Uh...deadzero....AR used to have over 120 people on during peak times... If you were looking for a group you wouldn't type who or who gr, you'd yell 'level 27 zerker looking for group' and get 8 tells instantly. That's ok though, AR is getting better and better all the time.
To get new players to AR there are two sources: friends and the mud community. It's easy to get friends to try it if they are into fantasy books/games/etc. To get people from the mud community we need to get into mudconnector with a hot banner or other mud websites (voting). |

I agree with Kalist and I would also add that if people want our mud to get a larger player base help out anyone new to the game as much as possible. For while getting new players is a good thing, KEEPING new players is critical.
I was helping a new person last night for a bit, showing him the various commands he would find useful for the immediate future while we wandered about. This is key, because I know from trying multiple muds if I didn't get a good start quickly I would just as often leave the mud as stay and try harder.
So help out a newbie as often as you can, especially if you have just started a new character. Think of it as new meat later on, when you want to pk or get a level 45 group going. |

Sorry kalist, I didn't play that far back. but hey even better point.
Still, I will agree completely with the need to keep players here. |

Vertas brought up a good point actually, about getting back some people who left already. I would definitely play the game more often myself if some of my favorite guys hadn't stopped, and I wouldnt be surprised if the feeling was mutual. So it may also be a good idea to remind some old friend about trying AR again. Course that means fixing the mudschool goofs....that you were supposed to tell me about in that thread about that.. |

I am just finishing up one more online college class, and I am not signing up for anymore until I am out of the Army in January. That means I will start playing AR a lot more. I will try to bring in a few people. Here is a good question to help filter out if people will like AR or not, "Do you enjoy legendary stories like the Odyssey or the stories about Greek Gods?" If people do not like good stories, then I do not think they will like AR or any fantasy games for that matter.

Spalino, that's not the right attitude. Don't call things off with your girl, call her up!
"Hey baby, playing AR gives you an automatic +5 to charm" and promise her something cool... "If you make it to level 30 I'll buy you a necklace." Its all about the rewards system!
And who knows maybe she'll turn out to really enjoy it... |
