I voted More racial legacies, or race/class alteration. Legacies could be a decent way to add power to the weaker race/class combos that are underrepresented in the pbase. Another good thing would be to allow more races to play different classes, lets say a firegiant dark-knight or a storm paladin. Low mana and devastating vuln would not allow them to be overpowered. Also something like a gnome healer could be fun and I dare anyone to say it would be overpowered...

Fire DK sounds like a fun combo, but giants are not very magically inclined. they can go into cleric classes but not mage classes. You need a race that can be both a warrior and a mage type, otherwise it tends not to fit. It's not that mechanically speaking they cant do it, its that in RP terms, it doesn't make sense. Besides, hybrids already have horrible mana regen, adding a low int and wis would basically make giant hybrids like necros. you spend 30 minutes to 1 hour online just to get ready for a few moments of PK. except instead of needing to raise zombies, you have to rest forever to get back your mana. Its probably an exaggeration, but not much of one. Another reason is parry. Giants would actually dominate in that regard, having a hybrid with the best parry in the game while dishing out dual wielding giant damage and wraths or lightning bolts. all hybrids have races that either have average or low parry, and average to high dex but no dodge.

So a giant would avoid the dodge-less weakness, would make holy or unholy armor way easy to get with their weight carrying capacity, would be able to hold many weapons to always stay weapon or combat style advantaged, would have the best parry in the game, would have a lot of hp and be able to tank and level themselves. So while the mana regen is their biggest weakness, They're still way uber compared to any other hybrid combo.

I still dont understand how a firegiant DK would be overpowered, the low mana and vuln would hurt. Holy/Unholy armor is totally useless at high levels. And a human DK would probably survive longer even with the lower HP if the other guy knows how to exploit the vuln.

If you add more combos it will lure back many inactive players who have always wanted to try out that firegiant/avian DK, halfling ninja or some other combo that could be made possible.

Personally I think that a Dkn fire giant with triton charmed, undead slave with four attacks, unholy frenzy thingy putting them at a 30 80 hit dam who can bash you to death is a BAD thing.

actually the un/holy armor does some damage mitigation, and especially nice for giants which have low magical AC. 200 more to AC in all areas is a very nice bonus, particularly when its basically free with heavy armor. Additionally, the armor skills protect against lag effects like bash and trip, in the same way dodge does for other classes.

strength does a lot.
bash time/damage.
overcome enemy parry.
resist hobble <- this is the key hybrid killer for fighter classes.
more space for armor and wands/scrolls. imagine a giant dk with 100 healing scrolls.
wider weapon selection.
extremely high parry.

then on top of all that you put what faelon said.

anyway, giants arent mages. there's a certain setup for the game, and this would break it.

also, low mana isn't really an issue. a DK is like an assassin class. you spell up and go in blazing. hanging around is not DK style. you only get one shot if the enemy is good, so you make it count. thats where the charm person and unholy frenzy comes in.

Fire Giant dark knights absolutely pwn. Admittedly the last one I saw was during the last brawl day before combat modules, but that wont change a thing. They rape people. Hard.

On the contrary, hybrids shrug off hobbles relatively well. Not by flee'ing, but by standing their ground for the duration and not being affected (no dodge either way). Dirt kick is the hybrid killer. Hobble rapes rogues and is also effective against other fighters. It could be seen as useful to keep a hybrid planted (but they should break often to keep themselves at top hp before this so they shouldn't care) or as a setup to improve bashes or slams, but this is a stretch.

Resatimm reminded me. I would like to see a brawl day. Maybe we could try out some of these race/class combos with the new combat modules and stuff and see how they go. I've never been part of a brawl day before, I feel like there's something missing from my life (and no, it's not the soul that Dav is currently in possession of).

paladins require flee and heal like a cleric, dks require consumables for their sanctuary, so they require flee. hobble disables both of these. hobble messes with any class, but hybrids have lower health already, and compound the inability to flee to quaff or cast heals. yes, hobble is bad for hybrids.

my favorite hybrid screw technique has always been hobble->dirt.

but that doesn't mean hobble->bash(3) isn't effective, since its too easy to use and works like a charm vs classes with low defenses and needing castings to complete their offensive.

hobble lowers their dex and bash keeps them from casting, so they eventually need to flee, where they faceplant from the hobble and get free murdered with fourth attack dual wielding. good times.

Flee right when you're hobbled and you can get away. Slade said it is good for planting, and that is it. Wasting 2 rounds to hobble while a dk is fireballing you to death with unholy strength isn't the best idea because he will be outdamaging you.
