POLEARM
Weapon Type: Shaft
Attribute: Strength
Primary Attack: High
Primary Defense: High
Polearms include a wide variety of weapons, ranging from a watchman's
halberd to a farmer's scythe. A polearm weapon has two connected parts: a
sturdy and reinforced shaft and a forged blade, often axe-shaped (poleaxe)
or long-bladed (scythe), as a head. Although polearms are often
spear-tipped for thrusting, the primary method of wielding a polearm is to
use its bladed head to slash at an opponent from a safe distance. Many
polearms are particularly well-suited against mounted opponents. Because of
the length, weight, and balance of polearms, all polearms must be wielded
with both hands, including by giants and minotaurs. The weighted head of
the polearm allows it to deliver blows as heavy as those from an axe, while
its increased shaft length grants the defensive reach of a spear, making the
polearm a truly formidable weapon.
* More powerful than one-handed weapon classes.
* Effective as both an attacking and parrying weapon.
