Human rangers could get 21 dex instead of 21 strength with the combat module/quick draw/bow skills. Discuss. |

Maybe they should get the plus one to con. Seeing as they aren't liked in cities and they've had to rough it out in the wilderness. They have become more strong in their vitality. Your suggestion is good, and makes sense. I agree with both! Myself and You! |

This would be a slight buff for human rangers, 'cause it's all about dirt kick when you're a ranger. I'm just not really sure they need it. That being said, if it happens I'll probably roll one. |

Its a so-so idea from my perspective... I'd still like to hear what amdorin and slade think, being as they'd know the most about rangers at the moment. Personally I dont feel particularly thrilled about doing something like a max-stat change, but I feel a batch of near-useless tweaks might create the perception that we actually still have some analytical balancing going on to people who're only bothering to read the change notes in-game. (slade's list of tweaks comes to mind). I'd be fine with having a tweaking session every couple months after we see how things weighed out. |

I think str is pretty helpful. It means that human warriors/zerkers can't screw you over with combat skills as much as they could if they had superior strength. |

They're both good, its probably marginal but I would prefer str. Dirt is used more due to lack of options than being good for them. Plus dodge (dex) is the first thing to go (hobble). Also, ranger doesn't have any other str race options. Halfling on the other hand has otherwise similar stats with a heavy dex lean. My tweaks mostly work at minor balance opportunities.. There is no real issue here. |

Cosign on the str option. Since stone giant's long passing from rangers, humans are the only consistent str type (werebeasts gain temporary bonuses) Besides there's three other consistent dex options for rangers.
Now I don't see as many halfling rangers for obvious reasons these days, but in regard to the bow skills thing Olyn, they could get a legacy that let's them have old school wield style of bows (wield it with no lag) ..but that may be too strong. Slade would roll a half ranger in 2 seconds. |

i would take halfling ranger over any other available race, the low strength isn't a weakness as most people think, look at the logs of atyrdolm, with an elf he hits mangles and they only have one more strength, the high dex is a great dirt/dodge factor following that up with pets i see it as the best ranger.
hmm...the temptation.... |

SMH things are different now, 17 str = 20lb max weight weaps and not much room for extra equipment so if you're trying to compensate for your damage, nah. 25 dex killed in one skill, low parry, 17 int (that added change that had int play a part in your defenses, wamp wamp), small size so hobble + bash *shudders*. 17 int/20wis = not the greatest herb. Thankful for 20 con tho. They'll be ok against anything that doesn't hobble ..(or disarm?) tho.
Go ahead and roll that half ranger. |
