|
|
There's been some criticism on the mudconnector of our healers being pretty
underwhelming, review of the changes made in the afflictive module exhumed some
things that fixed problems but made the class very dull. This is kind of an
easy design trap to fall into since they support very heavily. I'd like to
get it back more like a cleric without overdoing it and making paladins.
To remedy this situation I've introduced a completely new resource for healer.
The resource is called "divine power" and it has three levels. The divine
power is increased by casting certain spells and can be seen in prompt
visually by adding %d to it.
Level 1 : Nothing too special about level 1 yet, a spell will be provided
to drain it shortly.
Level 2 : This level allows use of 'holy word' which is a new (actually,
vey old and long agi removed) healer spell that frenzies the party. Casting
it instantly removes two levels of DP.
Level 3 : This allows the healer to cast heavens gate. This is actually
a requirement going forward. Casting it instantly removes all dp.
A couple of footnotes which are nevertheless important and you should read.
divine retribution - this spell now drains divine power instead of mana.
its kind of unuseable draining mana. This factoid is why I haven't rushed
to make a level 1 utility for it yet, although obviously it will be needed.
at an early level (level 1)
spirit shield - blocking with the spirit shield affect up will cause the
healer to gain divine power.

Nerfing Heavens gate was not to the way to make Healers less underwhelming. Also Divine Retribution should be able to stack with protective shield like Barrier/Mana Shield/Fire shield..ect stack with mages protective shield, if you are unable to stack them as a healer then there is no reason to really use dret. Also perhaps making dret stay with you after you move, just have it draining your Divine Power each hour would be cool. So you would constantly have to be in battle with spirit shield up to keep the dret up. |

Updated" Added new "castigate" level 4 spell that drains divine power for damage. The damage type is water. No scaling on this at the moment. |

dwarf healers praying for water based spells, it makes me giggle. WE NEED A DWARF HEALER WHO REFUSES TO HEAL! Cause apparently healing is all water based stuff. |

castigate isn't a communed spell, it's a sermon. basically they're standing around preaching at their opponent and throwing hot water in their face while fighting. yeah i giggled a bit at this one too |

Player idea for level 1 drain:
Player tells you 'Consecrate, Every undead creature entering a consecrated area suffers minor disruption, giving it a 1 penalty on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saves. Undead cannot be created within or summoned into a consecrated area.' |
