Being overburdened now prevents recall. I've added a trust command that
you will need to use if you want to allow people to give you equipment.
Note: Overburdened means over the carry weight limit, this can happen if
you are poisoned while close to your max, so be wary of classes who can
reduce your strength. Class that depends on recall heavily (such as mages)
should try to ensure this situation NEVER happens.

Just so you know I've thought of it. The list of players you have trusted will start permanently saving at some point. I just didn't want to do that until I felt more sure that it was completely stable. We could take down the server |

this wouldn't make sense if the person is asleep, how can you prevent someone from putting something on you if you are asleep. |

Yes attacking someone removes it.
If you want to try going without the trust command we can remove it, but I'm just warning you that there are literally dozens of way to abuse. |

Not related to overburden though. You can't give someone crap to put them over weight limit, they have to intentionally get from ground |

I believe that's the point Kato, now you can, You can give someone whos not paying attention tons of crap so they cant recall if it over burdens them, if they trust you, theres nothing to stop you from over burdening them, thus making them not able to run efficiently and or recall, if they aren't paying attention |

Hmm...I'm pretty sure you can't hand somebody an item if it will put them over their weight limit. |

pretty sure no one could ever give you anything to overburden you. I really doubt they can. You have to pick it up yourself to go over the limit. Even with trust or w/e |

It will be consolidated with nofol, so what you'll be doing is using the trust y/n to build your trusted list (i.e. basically its a friend list) and the nofol command will then let you either use or ignore it. And we'll default the ignore to OFF so you accept all items and get abused only if you don't take any precautions. |

Can thieves get a plant item skill? So that they can abuse people? |

yes they can at some point
nofol (now "notrust", left in nofol as a synonym) now enables/disables the trust mechanic completely, defaulting to OFF, so if you want to be super super careful, always have nofol on, and trust only people you are 100% sure you can. I will update the helpfiles again. |

I do not find this as a necessary change. Not sure why, but this doesn't seem newb friendly to me either. Maybe I'll figure out the words as to why I think that.
Overburden prevents recall..sure, I say go for it. that way if you full loot somebody there's some consequence to having all that shit on you...and somebody else can come chase you down and you can't recall for the quick get-away. All the other stuff just leave alone. You already can't hand somebody something to make them overburden...don't change that. I just don't see a need to mess with nofol/trust/no-trust/ friends list and all that craziness. Seems like taking a decent idea way too far. |

To make sure this isnt muddied, this is the change.
1. overburden prevents recall
2. nofol now also prevents give
3. trust can allow people to bypass your nofol
Make SURE you fully understand it before you criticize what it is.
It used to be that players would try things out and post logs and we would observe through the logboard whether things were needing more attention. Nowadays people seem to jump on it before its even had a chance to even play out, like... bawww, its not a newb-friendly change. Just wait and see, and you know, if you don't think you are ready to jump in with a quasit invoker and find out if its for you, there is a whole array of classes with high strengths and others with spells like giant strength that you can keep up. You can also watch the stream and logboard to see if it is any real danger. Wear the strongman's armlets from the white castle. There are plenty of simple solutions here. I don't see how that is not newb friendly. Having to memorize the entire MUD because people just easily recall to Timaran - that's definitely NOT newb friendly. |
