Isnt 25 str +7 dam favored (fire) about the same as 21 str +12 dam favored (human)? Or does fire have some innate dam from like size or something else, like do you get hit/dam bonuses that are eventually multiplied off base stats or something? Or is it just the berserk alone that does it? |

You should be able to get more damroll from 25 str/25 str berserk (berserk is pure damroll for fire giants, remember that varies by race now) than any other race, favoreds, whatever else... in practice you'd probably try for some hitroll and it wont look very different. I was just talking about it theoretically. There should be no way to outdo fire giant on melee damage, though. Not without some kinda imbalance e.g. anti-evil +5 damroll rings.. |

The "who has the strongest charge" question really depends on equipment, IMO. With crap equipment, it's hard to beat a fire giant's innate damroll bonuses for charge. However, the dive charge bonus is a multiplier, so while, say, a 15 damroll fire giant charge is definitely better than a 10 damroll avian warrior dive charge (10 damroll charge multiplied by bonus), a 45 damroll dive charge (all of it multiplied by the bonus) is almost certainly going to be stronger than a 50 damroll regular charge. So basically the better the dam eq that the avian warrior has, the more his dive charge is going to be better than the ground-based charges of other races using identical equipment.
And you only have to deal with bypassing one defense with charge (or none, depending on the victim combat style), whereas with murder you have to worry about bypassing multiple defenses (3 or even 4) with each attack. So dive charge works especially well against fellow fighter types. The main drawback to charge against fighter types is the longer lag compared to murder. Otherwise, from a purely damage perspective, charge is a pretty nice deal, especially two-handed dive charges that benefit from stacked two-hand multiplier and dive charge multiplier. Remember, stacked multipliers result in some of the highest damage possible. |
