Alright, why in the hell are avians allowed to use ivy and the spear and all that? Isn't it their weakness, but they are still allowed to use it? So if this is going on, let fire giants wield icy blue and ice armor, or stone giants wear wind boots. Or jesus, let storm's strap on some living wood. Seriously, what is going on?

The material of the object can be decided by the builder. That means the material can be completely unique. It can be material dogturd if he feels like it. There is no table they pick them from.

The current zapping is based on those material types, not on the attack types they do. Which is a bit funky, as far as weapons go. For example, an icicle is made of ice, thats easy enough. a water cube is just water.. another easy one to enter into game code. But what if you're dealing with the weapon having a hilt? e.g. a ruby-hilted dagger. The hilt makes it safe to hold, its just the attacks that are dangerous. Same goes for dwarves being able to use the staff of storms. Obviously objects can't be material "disease" can they. If we change it to base the zap on the attack type then I feel sorry for gnomes.

Heh. Also, a sword trapped in ivy, is material ivy.

That's a bit funky, as a sword made of ivy does NOT sound scary.

I guess this will be a little harder for coding, but if a counter is the deflecting of the attacker's attack back at them. Then a figher, such as avian, with a vulneralble who is using an ivy, should hit him back a lot harder.

I keep on thinking Soul Calibur 2 and whip swords while reading this. If it were material disease, maybe you could have it drain away health or something. And make it's damage like 25. That would be a sweet sword, but hell for people to hold. Or make it drain health or hinder healing just by OWNING it. Also, about the counter thing, it wouldn't be your sword that they're swinging at you.

I guess I just came up with an idea for a skill that turns back one's attack back against them by their own weapon. Or does a certain class have this and I'm not thinking straight?

There's already a skill called Counter, by warriors/paladin/ and weak for monks. Only counters first attack tho, but not turn back their weapon, you just take the chance of first strike weakness and yeah, counter.

Counter already hits back with their own attack type. Didn't you guys ever fight Mashadar? I learnt this the hard way..
