Don't know if this is already in affect, but I was thinking about bards and their Kings Feast song. I think it'd be neat to see a bard that could keep the material of creatures, e.g: Horn, tail, arm, claw, etc. as they are meat, use the song on them, and can keep the weapon for a while longer and being able to wield it. Some of the material creatures leave behind are nice averages, but don't last long if you're not a bard;) Just throwing it out there. |

He specifically went out of his way to mention keeping 'the weapon'... so I don't think he was aiming for some overpowered flight abuse... Pretty sure he was talking about roleplaying wise. Correct me if you think I'm wrong. It's not likely to happen, but it's not like it would 'dramatically' change the balance or something for you to have weapons with tiny averages for an extended period of time... |

let's say he probably forgot about the wings. but it is one of the meat material bits that you get that would be overpowered.
let's say the song only allowed you to keep the weak items. what the point would be of conjuring up some avg 9 items at rank 16 (or before or after)? roleplaying wise it would be fun for awhile but then people would realize that it was utterly pointless as nobody wants or needs the items (oh gee, i'm wielding a handful of teeth!) - it would end up being one of those superfluous songs like ode to stryth or serenade or marriage - but those songs actually have roleplay potential that suits the bard's class.
'a king's feast' song is actually useful in that it allows the bard to be self-sufficient away from shops. it is gruesome for what people generally use it on (feet, eyes, etc) but can be sung on other food items that aren't very filling or are about to rot - so it's not necessarily making your bard a voracious carnivore/cannibal. 'a sadistic guy's penchant for collecting trophies' song however doesn't fit the role of a bard. maybe it would be funny for those of you with black senses of humor (hmm, probably everybody here ) but friendly neighborhood entertainers don't generally juggle body parts. i'm just saying. |
