We've come to some consensus that we would like to give warriors a little bonus. Thus we gave them the OVERPOWER skill. This is a level 27 skill that allows one to buff an ability that has been mastered for its next use, which generally means a better chance to work and more damage. It'll cost you some movement points to use, but, we also gave them the much higher level ATHLETICISM ability which speeds up the regeneration of movement points. Please note that this new overpower skill does not apply to automatic skills.
This is what to like:
* it rewards mastering skills, which everybody already enjoys doing
* it grants bonuses to existing skills, which is in line with other warrior skills (warcry, berserk, blind fighting)
* its name fits our realm and the class fine
* it is unique to the class
What I like about this the most is that the player can choose to spend movement points (i.e. stamina) to perform actions. This has been done in Dark Souls and shown to be very fun. Also, I believe there are some quirks to be found, such as being able to charge greater distance by overpowering that. So in that sense, we can see that warriors are not "The Mountain" persay, but they can certainly perform some Hercules/Achilles-like feats of athleticism.
As an example of using it, I would just type "overpower hobble" and I would then perform a strong hobble that costs movement. |

Code: |
'OVERPOWER'
Syntax: overpower <skill name with normal arguments>
Unlike the raw, brutish athleticism of berserkers, or the magical power of
wizards that appear shortly after their birth, a skilled warrior secures victory
by relying on long periods of training, owing their finesse and physical fitness
to that dedication to their quest.
One such talent developed by warriors is their ability to overpower their
target with skill. For each skill a warrior has mastered, they may choose to
concentrate more power into its action to perform it at a heroic level, for the
cost of a little stamina.
|
Code: |
'ATHLETICISM'
Syntax: Automatic
Warriors who have learned the art of athleticism shall have taken the
first step into the rigorous lifestyle of a battle ready fighter.
Therefore the warrior shall develop efficient movement regenerating
abilities to move on from one battle to the next.
|
Please note that for overpower, you'll type the command you would normally use as the skill, for example, you would type "dirt" not 'dirt kicking'. |

For skills that aren't based on damage like dirt, hobble, disarm, and trip, Will overpowering extend the duration of the effects if landed successfully or will it only increase the chance of it landing successfully? |

It'll vary by skill. Whatever level does for you with that skill, you get more of it. |
