The reason you master the weapons, because those weapons are the main ones used for certain things, Spears namely against a dex based class for the extra chance to hit vs a dodging opponent, staff is good because best parry in game, and a staff in a paladin's hands has the best defense without a shield, until you factor in buckler.
Its so they can somewhat fight against the other fighters. |

I'm confused by this:
Code: |
A monk is free to cover his tattoos with other clothing if they choose to, and they will lose only the bonus properties of the item in doing so.
|
I have a tattoo on my arms. If I wear living wood on my arms, I see my damroll increase. So what bonus properties am I losing? If I still benefit from the tattoo, and now benefit from the ac and damroll from the living wood, why would I ever want to leave my tattoos uncovered? |

Depends simply on the tattoo you have. The drunken tattoo gives quite a bit of ac actually. One will give damage, another hit, and so on... So if you can't find an item yet to give you what you are specifically looking for, you can leave it uncovered if the tattoo gives you the bonus. Obviously end game they will all be covered up, but while ranking up it can be nice. |

Getting mastery in a monk style does 2 things:
- It gives you a new skill (basic level) and a bonus to a basic skill (grandmaster level)
- It gives you a tattoo eq item which because more powerful as you grow from basic level to master to grandmaster
They are separate things. Covering up your tattoo just means you're not getting the stats from that tattoo as a piece of equipment. You will still have the extra skill and the bonus to a basic skill no matter what. |

Right, you just lose the bonus AC/dam/hit or whatever when they're covered. |

Ah ok, so the helpfile is wrong. Instead of saying:
Code: |
A monk is free to cover his tattoos with other clothing if they choose to, and they will lose only the bonus properties of the item in doing so. |
It should say:
Code: |
A monk is free to cover his tattoos with other clothing if they choose to, and they will lose only the bonus properties of the tattoo in doing so. |

I'm not sure if it's posted anywhere or not. I vaguely remember the discussion being something like lvl 1 tattoo was a decent common item (like mithril or black tear), lvl 2 tattoo starter rare (spiked garde), lvl 3 decent rare (spiked collar).
The idea is winter rares will always be better but don't cover your grandmaster tattoo with a mithril helmet. Anything in between is worth investigating. |

Yeah I remember Dav saying something like figure it out for yourself. It's not make it or break it, and it really isn't. Each has it perks you have to chose from. How powerful each is depends on the circumstance. I really like to see it as an amazing opportunity to RP, but not in the more obvious ways.
One thing I have and always will say is, dont underestimate crane style. Wing Buffet is ridiculous and the passive it adds is so amazing for tanking, not to mention the hitroll(which is a completely underrated stat). |

Effective immediately, monkey clamber uses the "clamber" syntax instead of "mount". The helpfile has been updated. |
