First of all I wouldnt dream of putting this into AR without seeing some serious support for it. So this is just an idea to be entertained non-seriously, and there are many other things to work on besides this.
Currently, when you cap a cabal item, members of your cabal and alignment get a status effect. Legion dominion, Knight absolution, etc. It currently is kinda just for bragging rights, which is nice enough in of itself.
What I would like to propose is two-fold.
(A) This status effect is enabled on cabal characters who are very near the source of their power (that means, it is active in their cabal grounds, on their path, but not while the item is captured because then the power is gone)
(B) The controversial part. The status effect would update based on who you are fighting to run a gear check and *buff you* if (and ONLY if) you are badly behind on gear. Unlike Keepers, this is not intended to be a buff that would equalize a massive gear disadvantage, more likely just add 6% extra damage/armor or something moderate like that.
The goal of the idea is to have a bit of strategic purpose of capturing a cabal item. It would give you a better chance vs an opponent who is much stronger than you, or well at least have home advantage if you are so behind they are going to raid your cabal with impunity. As well it is interesting to note there is an influence on the lower levels, where some guy might have bought a ton of rares and sat at level 35, or red dragon at level 25 or whatever, and absolution could help out there. So to state the idea in one line, the idea is to use the status effects from capping cabal items to gently level the playing field. Of course you dont want it too strong because then theres no point getting rares in the first place. |
