Why is it that thiefs can use bows, but ninjas can't?
for one, I have never heard of a bow wielding thief, and ninjas are supposed to be assassins, and a bow is a good choice for assassinating people, because it is long range, plus the picture on the class thing on the site has a ninja using a bow?
Just wondering |

Ever played the Thief series of games? Or consider that a ranged-attack "thief" is a pretty standard PC gaming archetype found in many fantasy computer games, for example in the Elder Scrolls series?
Ninjas are already one of two classes with offhand enhanced damage (the other being ranger), and our plan for the rogue module will to be focus on dual wielding and thrown item (shuriken etc) abilities for ninjas. All thieves will continue to be able to use bows, and there will be an optional bow specialization path for thieves (which will have skills substantially different from ranger bow skills).
Also, the stereotypical "ninja" has been so diluted by cheesy movies that almost anything "works" for ninjas these days -- including a ninja flipping out and killing a room full of people, then ripping off his hood to reveal that he was really Chuck Norris the whole time. We could give ninjas bows, but we then could give ninjas a whole lot of other things, too. Whether we should or not is an entirely different question, especially when it comes to gameplay balance. |
