Well I'll cut to the chase, since I've immed (over 10 years ago) I noticed there was a mob flag called "extra attack" which allowed builders to basically put a second haste on a mob, stacking with the original haste as well.
Over the years I've noticed a trend that a new 'best zombie' would emerge because of this extra attack. And it steadily crept into a lot of eq areas on every mob of note, to the point that builders put it on their area's first mob, the weeder mob if you like. The current top zombie is level 45 duff.
Reading into the stock ROM and the order in which things were done, it seems that this flag was originally meant to be put on cabal mobs - or to be specific, it seems it was actually only made for the juggernaut, the warlord's cabal guardian, since it would be a non-magic "haste" to fit its legacy. Warlords cabal guardian no longer even bears this extra attack, so raher than try to fix 200+ broken mobs I just deactivated it for balance reasons. |
