The road heads southwards from here, meandering its way slowly around the

outskirts of the dwarven kingdom. Its resilient stone path has resisted

much of the wear created by the bustle of traders and merchants travelling

in between the two cities. To the northeast you see a huge monastery, built

inside a grove and surrounded by a patch of grass.

bustle of trade passing through the area.

  1. rayor My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
I know most of my mistakes, but feel free to add! I did stupid stuff, he did stupid stuff... So please! Have at it!
  2. jerusai My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
I only picked up a few things right off the bat - dirting (looked like you could've overheaded there instead)/disarm while raged, you could've just fled and waited for him to die. Overhead crush, after the barrage shield disarm instead of a disarm. I think that he wouldn't have defied it that way. Maybe back to defensive style after that... but, I'm kind of a retard so don't listen to me.

Raged fire giants have flame attacks now?
  3. gomer My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
well you landed shield disarm arm and he never wore a shield or dual wielded after that, sideswipe would have been pretty good... but what I dont get is you just played Rayor and this is a warrior but it was like you had no clue what you were doing, whats up with that.
  4. rayor My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
Oh... i was going to switch to my effigy after disarming his shield... but than i realized! I forgot to buy one! Haha... So I screwed myself over... I just wasnt as prepared for the fight as i though. And yes, I dont know why the hell i dirt kicked. I knew not to, but its just a habit i guess.
  5. rayor My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
Like I said, gomer... I made plenty, and I mean PLENTY of mistakes... I just wasnt myself at all. I think by joining the Knights i became a newbie to a whole new extreme.
  6. gomer My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
Jerusai, he couldnt have fleed and waited for him to die, it never said he was refusing to die, The overhead crush instead of dirting wouldnt have work because the fire was wearing a shield.

And yes one of fire giants racial legacies cause them to flame if they are raged and you use ice against them, i think that is how it works
  7. rayor My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
I disarmed the giants shield though, and he hadnt put it back on, so I think it might have as long as I had an advantage.
  8. jerusai My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
It would work - he wasn't wearing a shield. after the barrage, he shield disarmed, and then tried to disarm. And he wasn't wearing a shield the whole rest of the fight - no shield smash.

They don't have to be refusing to die to die from a rage. I have died several times at 15% or so because I couldn't sustain my wounds.
  9. gomer My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
okay, you are right but you also have to think that the fire giant is over level 35, which means regeneration, you dont know how long his rage has left, berserk, can you out run him (since he is raged he attacks as soon as he walks in your room) and you dont even know if he will die when he pops out of rage so you could waste your chance running.

You also said "dirting (looked like you could've overheaded there instead)/disarm while raged" when he tried to dirt him he was wearing a shield, so I think I just didnt understand what you were saying. Also, overhead has a two round lag while sideswipe only has 1/2 round lag and since he is a fire there is a good chance he will regain control of his weapon before you could overhead him again - that is simply a preference you would overhead, I would sideswipe - either would have been better then the disarm.
  10. rayor My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
I would sideswipe as well... Especially since I didnt have a weapon to overhead with anyways. But like i said, joining the Knights made me an extreme Newbie.
  11. marsd My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
sideswipe doesn't have 1/2 round lag.. it's a round half.
  12. gomer My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
yeah I got lazy and didnt feel like typing out one and a half, so my bad but I do know it is 1 1/2 round lag.
  13. hargan My first attempt at getting an Anathema -
You were hysteria'd for most of that fight, so I don't know how effective spamming sideswipe would have been. Personally I'd have high-tailed it out of there after Zeth's last bodyslam, waited for the tick and hoped rage fell / he got stunned. Other than that, a last sideswipe when the hysteria wore off might have saved you, but you can never really tell how close to death zerkers are.

Move around a bit more, I'd say. Don't go toe to toe with him and expect to outdamage. Would have been mighty different if you'd had that effigy though, so I don't think you did too badly at all.

One last thing from me, To any warrior, next time a berzeker rages against you and you are lvl 37 or higher, drop into to reflex mode and let me know what happens. The help file for reflex mode say something like reflex mode is the most effective against over aggressive/extended targets, which sound a lot like a raged berzerker. Send me a log via private message please and edit out the characters names.

"help file says this and this is how I interpret" is equivilant to talking out of your ass since you obviously don't have the experience to qualify you. It's like they say in the real world, "if you can't do, consult." which basically means that you suck shit, but will be pompous and get some suckers to listen.

No, it means you can try this and if it works then great and if it doesnt well then that is one more thing you know not to try, and you, I am guessing E-ant or Clifton(sorry if I am wrong), are not doing anything except hiding behind "guest" and telling other how stupid they are and how they are just talking out of their ass but you dont back up anything you say, which leads me to believe that you are a complete dumb ass.

I am tired of idiots like this. If any wants advice send me a private message and if I think I can help someone I will send you one. Check the upper right corner of the screen when you log in to see if you have a message if you have never used the messaging on invokation.

one last thing, you are correct by the comment about those cant do, teach, but I am not teaching anyone I simply put ideas out there for others to test, learn and improve upon, some of which I have tired and some of which I havent yet. The reflex mode vs. raged berzerker did work shortly after the original change came about but before very many people used reflex mode, so I dont know if it would be of any use anymore.

Wow. Cool, I was brought into this. So lets play ball. Gomer, who was your last 40+ warrior? on what grounds do you think your advice is valid? You have a level 50 Stone Warrior and a Level 40+ Dwarf Berserker Knight replying to you and somehow, someway you think you're right because you read the help files? Reading help files and doing like help files is equivilent to a cosmo article on how to be cool. Even if you've read them, it still doesn't mean you know the first thing about it. Lets check out some of your advice. "sideswipe would have been pretty good" against a one-handed weapon. Have you ever tried that? "he couldnt have fleed and waited for him to die, it never said he was refusing to die, The overhead crush instead of dirting wouldnt have work because the fire was wearing a shield." You have no idea what kind of crappy hp regen raged berserkers get out of combat. Even with regen, you'll be lucky if you get more than 30 hp. If nothing else, he drops to bottom line health < 100hp. Secondly, he never wore a shield, so overhead would've damaged and raked his weapon. "there is a good chance he will regain control of his weapon before you could overhead him again" - yeah, but the berserker stills goes a round without attacking. But you don't know that since you haven't tried it. "drop into to reflex mode and let me know what happens" - doesn't matter much when a raged berserker has more hitpoints and is outdamaging you. So before you continue showing off how much of a level 2 player you are, maybe, just maybe, you should step back, listen, and experiment for yourself. Players don't get competent by reading help files, they get competent by reading doing. That's as good of advice as I can give for any new player.
