Jungle kitten
In the dense jungles where shadows dance among the thick foliage and light shimmers among leaf and vine resides Ruvbert Shadowtalker, a cunning jungle cat with an insatiable curiosity for optical illusions. Born under the canopy of ancient trees, Ruvbert's fascination with the play of light and shadow began at a young age. Her keen eyes, sharp as obsidian, could discern the subtlest shifts in patterns and hues, leading her down a path of discovery that would shape her very existence. Guided by her relentless curiosity, Ruvbert delved deep into the secrets of illusion, studying the ancient tomes of the jungle's wise elders and experimenting with her own creations. She mastered the art of camouflage, blending seamlessly into her surroundings like a phantom in the mist, and learned to manipulate shadows to deceive both prey and predator alike. But it was the realm of optical illusions that truly captured Ruvbert's imagination. With a flick of her tail and a mischievous glint in her eye, she could conjure illusions so convincing that even the most seasoned adventurers were left bewildered and disoriented. Whether weaving intricate patterns of light to confound her foes or creating shimmering mirages to lure unsuspecting travelers off their path, Ruvbert enjoyed the art of illusion like a master painter with a canvas of endless possibilities. Yet, beneath her playful exterior lies a deeper mystery and dark craving to drag mangled creatures up a tree while their blood rains down. A quest for understanding the true nature of reality itself while rejoicing with the Blood God. Ruvbert knows that in the ever-shifting tapestry of light and shadow, nothing is quite as it seems, and the boundaries between illusion and truth are as ephemeral as the morning mist. So, with a twinkle in her eye and thirst for blood her boundless curiosity drives her ever onward. Ruvbert Shadowtalker continues to roam the jungles, seeking out new wonders and unraveling the mysteries of the world around her, even when her quest has taken him from her birthplace. In her domain though, reality bends and twists, as Ruvbert leads the unsuspecting on a journey through the labyrinth of her mind. Her lair is a sanctuary of wonder, where mirrors reflect endless corridors and shadows play tricks upon the mind. Here, amid the tangled roots and ancient stones, Ruvbert reigns as the princess of deception, a curious jungle cat whose every whispered step is a mystery waiting to be unraveled.

Description:

Both predator and enigma, fur as dark as the midnight sky her form is that of a majestic jungle cat. Eyes gleam like orbs of polished jade, they draw you in like an emerald jungle. Head adorned with the proud look of a feline monarch, crowned with tufted ears that surely twitch with curiosity. What truly sets Ruvbert apart are the mesmerizing spots that adorn her sleek pelt, each one a swirling vortex of color and light. They shimmer and shift like the reflections upon a tranquil pool, casting an enchanting spell upon all who behold them. Mirage-like patterns dancing upon her coat, shifting and swirling like smoke in the breeze, beguiling and yet beautiful. Symbols also push through like moonlight filters through the dense canopy. Shards of mysterious silver, pieces of a cosmic puzzle. Her fur is a canvas of endless fascination, a tapestry of shadows and secrets woven into the very fabric of her being. Her sleek form captivates and her tail will surely flick is she catches your continued examination.

    It is permanent now.

People don't like to be threatened and you put me in the time out room after I said I was busy. Very rude, you interfere in my revenge, albeit a mob, may you step on a lego for your transgression. Maybe try, you're a big boy and you want to be a good example, like a big boy. These threats just make me want to Dr Seuss any future descriptions.

My thoughts on illusionists is they are unplayable, not even gate makes them worth the effort. See it sucks when people poop on your work.

The original description is below, I removed part of the first line because I was prompted to do so (and it is there everytime I log in).

Both predator and enigma, her presence is felt long before she is seen. Fur as dark as the midnight sky her form is that of a majestic jungle cat. -Apologies for having fun with a fantasy game. Full disclosure I was already thinking this build was a mistake.

Yeah low int on a mage would be a buzzkill I think. I see a lot of people having fun with illusionists though. Not my thing as im not good enough to execute with it. Seems to be doable though as one is in the top 5. I enjoyed our brief interaction on one of my characters and the background is good. As for the description I personally wouldn't make you change it but it is a bit much. "Presence is felt," "draw you in," and the last "will surely flick if she catches your continued examination." Also thats a lot of different things that fur has going on. I mean its a fascinating read but like I said a bit over the top.

I get that we say some pretty horrible things to each other on this forums, just look at all the enraged ranix stuff insulting everybody's intelligence and what not, and whatever else we did. But telling people you hope they step on a lego brick? come on man. That's just cruel and unusual. Nobody deserves to step on those plastic barbs.

Lots of effort in writing this. Kudos to you. The moment i had to re read a line to understand what you are describing, it's too complicated for me. I skipped it, but well written description.

I know this is a GY and a vent at that, but if you have any legit concerns about illusionists please do take them to the patch forum and lets discuss it in more detail there. This one is obviously a puppet class where you control multiple characters at once (i.e. "micro management") to get your shit in, as long as we stick to that then I am happy to try out your suggestions. For examples:
      - their phantasmal griffon could be giant tentacles that burst from the ground and slap the target
      - illusionist spectre could be flying sharks that bite (sharknado), etc.
that's two ideas that would give access to bash and pierce damage types instead of it all just doing mental damage
      - dreamstuck has a kind of "instant" -60 save vs mental that scares people into getting massive mental saves and what'd probably work better there is if the dreamstruck simply allows the hits from the marionette (and later duplicates) to accumulate into a save vs mental reduction, or armor reduction, or whatever else we want, depending on whats hitting them. why not have choices? target the mal save for your shaman buddy if you want. its a support/offense class, that seems like a fit for both.
      - maybe you could specialize into "guardian dupes" to get a really nice armor aura from having a duplicate of overseer mechanus, footman of order or whatever else is supposed to be a tank. that'd be good for illithid illusionists that just eat shit from slashing weapons

It’s like you took the description rules and wiped your but with them.

That being said, I like what you wrote, but when my mino looks at you he doesn’t feel or think any of that.

Some of that would be blended nicely into a background, perhaps?
    1. Can you be more specific on what you don't think or feel? I don't think he crossed many, if any, lines here for an illusionist. It's just prose.

It was meant to be over the top, having already mastered tricking the senses, but yes there was quite a few questionable things pushing the line.

For those unfamiliar, you description should only be what is seen if you were sleeping or standing with no pose, action/movement or items. Also not to be cleverly written in a poem.
      [reply to Grayden]
    1. Seriously, let's talk in game on your next illusionist. They are more playable than they've been in years.

You description is great. I love how it toes the line and softly raises the question if what you see is what the character actually looks like or if it is enhanced by illusion. Very cool for the race class combo. It does have some grammatical or sentence fragment issues though. I would hope if you're open to the feedback that the immortal would let you out with a promise to fix it up later.

Normally the Immortals are nice and give you time, but I assume we were both in a hurry and maybe both in a foul mood. Some of messed up parts halfway through the description was trying to build a sense of something is not right. Everything after casting an enchanting spell. Anything before that line is just bad writing.

You tell Ruvbert 'I get what you are trying to go for with your appearance, but you are taking some liberties with the rules here. Your appearance has things in it that tell me what I am thinking, as well as actions.'

You tell Ruvbert 'Fix it please.'

        Ruvbert tells you 'Boo.'

You send a thunderbolt to smite Ruvbert!
        Ruvbert yells 'AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!'

The immortal in question was me. I gently prompted you, and then sat there and watched you. I waited for your reponse to my tell and got booed in response. Then I watched as you began spelling yourself up, and spelling up your marionette to continue what you were working on what you wanted instead of obeying orders from immortals. I was quite gentle, and had every intention of smiting the mob down for you back to the level it was at when you finished the correction of your desc, in response you got mad and attempted to rage delete on the spot.

No one wants you to smite the mob for them when they are killing it with a thousand cuts as revenge for killing them so easily.

Yes I said boo, I was already in a foul mood, then I said I was busy and you put me in time out. Made my decision to move on from this character that much easier.

It would actually be amazing if you guys just take a couple min sometime to think about how many hours it took me to build black pyramid to ensure a firm place in the game for jagar. Do that next time you're thinking about moaning instead of writing your desc and/or jonesing to delete over minor touch-ups. I mean it. these player descs help build the game and add consistency. They matter and they matter a lot. Its not going to be made "optional". Do me a favour and quit doing this buffoon stuff all the time ozaru.

We appreciate the work. People just don't like being told what to do even if it is for their benefit. As soon as there is a rule some people want to break it, some enforce it and others push the line. People are inerrant assholes in a general way. For example, before cell phones I had a job calling people so they would get all phone features in a package instead of paying for each one separately, so some people you were calling to say, hey can I lower your phone bill, I need your permission to do so, and you would not believe how many times I was told to f off and better not change anything. People suck. Try not to take it personal but we are all selfish self serving creatures as a base line.

Just because it is important to you, doesn't mean it needs to be important to me. How many descriptions and backgrounds exist that are just terrible and don't have any real impact on the perception of the character? Some people really get into this some don't. Go read Krytons and Zyrons desc, they don't follow the desc guidelines.

the shadow he casts that covers more ground that most creatures you've seen, how does he know I grew up with only gnomes, what if I grew up around fire giants. I could be a fire giant myself and his shadow compared to my shadow is well below average.

        Zyron
he bears a series of massive prayer beads that chime ominously with his every movement. I don't think it sounds ominously, I think it sounds cheerful. Don't tell me how to interpret sounds.

I get that you want a basic standard of quality, and I have had my share of recognized descriptions and it feels great to get that. But its just annoying when it isn't applied consistently.

Lots of finger pointing and projection going on here. The rules are the rules if use them to leverage your asinine arguement.you have a problem with someone else not following them use the in game commands to report them. Don't in one sentence say its not important to you and then in another try to use it to leverage an asinine argument. Seems a bit more important to you than you let on if you're taking the time to point out these things. Descriptions are a required part of the game, backgrounds are required in certain instances. No one nor is any system perfect and we have to work with what we have.

Hey jackwagons. This is a flippin free game, and the staff here doesn't get paid. Stop rage deleting your chars and maybe you won't have to keep writing descriptions

My god how high can you jump because the conclusions you jump to are amazing to hang on every post I make its almost flattering. writing descriptions and backgrounds has never been important to me, I picked those two descriptions because those are the two most notable players and their names are easy to search and spell. Honestly I was disappointed by Krytons description because the notoriety that character has, I just expected more. Zyrons in my opinion was pretty good, but both of them didn't follow the rules as stated. For me personally I could give two shits what they write because that side of the game does not interest me at all. When I look at you, I am not reading what you look like, I am looking at your eq. I can't even read the rp logs of whatever tavern sessions is going on. But for Grayden it was important to him and it annoyed him, he deleted over it so I am pointing out the inconsistency because I like Grayden. If an imm tells me to fix my desc, I have no problem with it because it isn't important enough for me to push back on. If I want to put in the effort on a desc I will, if I don't I won't. If we could have stock descriptions that would be great too where you can pick your appearance from a list of choices that would be nice.

If I want to make 20 wearbeast rangers, drow shadows, stone warriors, duergar warriors, elf paladins, guess what I can. If I play them all the same win lose or draw guess what I can. If you don't like it, eh thats a you problem. If the imms don't like it, they have the ability to change that easily.

I am a jackwagon and let's not finger point. If you write a good description you get awarded a banner from the Immortals, if you write a passable one great, if you took too many liberties and rage delete, you are also a jackwagon. It is what it is.

I appreciate this is a free game and haunt it regularly because it is not pay to win or filled with hackers.

Truth is, this character was already in line for the chopping block. I cried like a baby because I felt treated like a toddler after I acted like a child. See it just takes me a bit to digest the picture. We need you all and I Arunore has some better days.

      12. Ozaru,

There are problems with playing characters all the same way. When somebody shows certain patterns with their characters (race/class combo, general name choice, backgrounds which over time start to blend together, and so forth), it can cause others to assume that this player is behind characters that seem to meet those specific requirements. Not only does this make interactions boring, but when somebody turns out to *not* be behind the mask of a character who met those requirements and that is found out after the fact, it really isn't fair to that other player when somebody treats them a certain way based on a false assumption. I can name two examples where this happened in this character's career: Kwyl (who is still around), and Amanthi. It wasn't fair to Kwyl when I reacted to his ambition to become Blademaster with demands for extra requirements or choosing to voice concern because of how recently he had joined the Warlords (which, given your proclivity for deleting early quite often, seemed like a valid concern. I don't want to lose valuable members, especially if they are in senior roles. But not only was Kwyl not your character, but that treatment was totally unnecessary.) I also thought Amanthi might be your character based on similar background titles to a previous character of yours but I was proven wrong after the fact. This likely resulted in unnecessary negative interactions between us. So, in conclusion I'm saying it's my opinion that playing all the characters the same is doing the game and its community a disservice.
      13. Ozaru
        1 , 0 , 0 .
It only causes you to assume, just you. It makes your interactions boring because you can't get your head out of your ass. You have been jumping on these forums with different accounts take your own advice and just play the game by not screwing with other peoples characters. Its a YOU problem for assuming Kwyl and Amanthi is me. Anyone with half a brain would know I would never waste my time as a fucking herald.

Your shit leadership is directly tied to you losing duels, you can't handle it and you react accordingly. Again thats not a me problem thats a you problem. I don't know how or why Dav gave you warlord leadership but honestly its a mistake. You assuming who plays who is a great disservice to this community.

For a rare few times i agree with ozaru. When i first fought filo i already guessed he was ozaru. I told ivindel I'm very sure it is ozaru without even reading his description. But was i 100% sure that i am willing to bet my entire live savings? No, there was that 1% chance i would be wrong. So i treat filo the same as any in-game character.

So if descriptions makes you assume who they are, it really seems like a you problem afales.

Ozaru, knock that off or you are going to get another long timeout.
      19. Ozaru, nobody wants to deal with a known quitter. You've deleted several characters (not all of them Warlords) while I've been here, sometimes for seemingly trivial reasons. After dealing with that, I am much more hesitant to hand off senior promotions early even if somebody has earned them through merit as it feels like I might lose that character at the drop of a hat. And regardless of who somebody is (or who I might *think* they are), this behavior has had an impact on how I run the cabal. I've decided that quitters don't have a place in my cabal in the long term, and this is in large part due to your actions (though there are also other factors, it was the primary motivator initially).
      20. And we're getting horribly off topic now so I'll stop replying and consider this laid to rest. The solution to conflict with me in game has always been very simple: if you have a problem with me which can't be resolved face-to-face, talk to Davairus since I answer to him. Same could be said outside I guess.
