This tale is unlike those told before. His earliest memories were that
of the hive. He was never an individual, it was always the collective.
Eventually though, other telepathic beings began to come into contact with
the hive. For some unknown reason, the hive took to training human
telepaths. They trained drow telepaths, and even occasionally gnomes. Of
course for the hive this was only logical, as the collective became more
powerful with each addition. One day a strange group of humans came to
them. They were telepaths like the rest, but they had strange ideas. They
thought about one called Virgil, and they thought about balance, tilting
scales. A dying land, all of these things were strange concepts to the
hive. The hive didn't care, it thrived. Finally it became time to
assimilate them. That is when the change began to occur, for now the hive
had these thoughts. What did the thoughts of a few matter to the wealth of
the hive? That was another thing, time does not pass the same for the hive
as the world goes round. So it is hard to tell when exactly the it
happened. One day the hive was no longer there. There was only Voggrat,
with thoughts of Virgil and balance. With no understanding of what had
occurred his adventure began.
Description:
The figure standing before you is wrapped in a strange cloak. Pale
almost white hair frames his too human face. High cheekbones, and narrow
chin, seem to imply some sort of elven heritage. His arms are shrouded in
the cloak so you cannot see much about his build, but strangely the hem of
this robe seems to flare out as if around a tree trunk rather than feet.
The last thing you notice is the ground behind him where he was a moment
before is strangely wet, as if a puddle was mostly dried up. It is at this
point that the illusion breaks, and standing before you for an instant is a
many tentacled creature of many horrors. Upon blinking you realize it must
have been your imagination, for the monster is gone.
I really liked the description on Voggrat! With some more flushing out that background could have made for a cool story in and of itself, too. Think I helped you get to 50 on a character or two - sorry to see you go so quickly!
I had some seriously fun plans with this character. I was probably going to end up in trouble with him at some point. Squid keeper, I was still trying to find my place with it. I did intend to make more background entries as the character came together in my head, but he was still halfway in the concept stage.
