Gazruk vs Regdrak

I'm not interested in fighting to kill right now, however, if it happens, it happens. I'm trying to figure out the best dupes to
fight someone with protection. I could have grabbed a water cube or water staff which would have been a great help.
I want to focus on dupes right now, though, since they're SUPPOSED to be our main source of damage. Keep in mind this is a
level 50 illusionist vs a level 47 paladin.

The damage still seems a bit underwhelming. I understand I can go get some named duplicates, but that seems like it gives me an extremely
limited amount of time to go gather the other heavy hitters. If the case is that I need to frantically acquire strong guys to fight with, I'm going
to be incredibly easy to avoid and never get any kills because of how easy it is to run as any class vs Illusionist. Granted, group gate could mitigate
that, but then your gate spell has a huge lag time on top of a low chance of actually being able to gate to the person you're fighting. Nevermind
doing something like that against a vet who has good saves and is very likely prepared for that event.

Entrance of the Paladin Guild
You stand before the entrance to the guild of Paladins, the warriors of
the Light. The huge gateway here appears to be made of gold, although a few
scratches on it indicate it is simply gold plating over standard steel. A
sign hangs next to the gate, a golden sword pointing downwards, surrounded
by a circle of light. This sign signifies the dedication to goodness and
virtue all Paladins adhere to. The path leading through the gates is made
up of a mosaic of colored tiles, although you see no red ones anywhere. You

Regdrak walks in.
Regdrak's dirty blonde hair splits unevenly from the middle of his head
and hangs down below his shoulders in thick bedraggled sheets. His beard is
trimmed and maintained around his upper jaw but explodes into a frizzy mess
around his chin and mouth. Surprisingly, his eyebrows are so fine and carry
such a light shade of blonde that they appear to be almost non-existent,
which makes the pale blue of his pupils pop all the more. His eyes, sitting
in their slightly sunken sockets, bear the dogged and fevered intensity of a
true believer. Tattooed in a tight band across his forehead are a series of
curious runes; the script appears similar to ancient patterns from before
the Great Purge. He carries his head tilted slightly downward, as if smell
rather than sight were his primary sense. The bulging, sloping trapezoids
that dominate his back are so overbuilt with meaty muscle that they push his
shoulders forward and lend his silhouette a hulking, animalistic quality.
Tendons, thick as rope, crisscross his forearms and run down into the
knuckles on his beefy hands.
He is a master explorer.

Regdrak's dirty blonde hair splits unevenly from the middle of his head
and hangs down below his shoulders in thick bedraggled sheets. His beard is
trimmed and maintained around his upper jaw but explodes into a frizzy mess
around his chin and mouth. Surprisingly, his eyebrows are so fine and carry
such a light shade of blonde that they appear to be almost non-existent,
which makes the pale blue of his pupils pop all the more. His eyes, sitting
in their slightly sunken sockets, bear the dogged and fevered intensity of a
true believer. Tattooed in a tight band across his forehead are a series of
curious runes; the script appears similar to ancient patterns from before
the Great Purge. He carries his head tilted slightly downward, as if smell
rather than sight were his primary sense. The bulging, sloping trapezoids
that dominate his back are so overbuilt with meaty muscle that they push his
shoulders forward and lend his silhouette a hulking, animalistic quality.
Tendons, thick as rope, crisscross his forearms and run down into the
knuckles on his beefy hands.
He is a master explorer.

  2. It does seem the guild is in a poor state for fighting. I agree that named duplicates is not practical. The chances of failing to duplicate are too high and you cannot try again. By the time you secure multiple and sleep to regain mana you have minimal time for combat.

    Gate is a tool of convenience not combat. It cannot go to many places, takes a lot of mana, and either leaves duplicates or has severe lag on arrival. It allay has very low odds of success. I regularly spend 1000 mana failing to gate to lower rank members of parties in trying to assist who are rarely geared for saves.

    The marionette is often better than a third duplicate just for its top rank. Enlarge can help with damage. But I do not think it is enough to be competitive. I believe the only viable road is through maximizing the damage you produce with your own weapon. I've never seen anybody try to maximize it though
