For a 90 minute cooldown on strength damned, the rugged slith is extremely underwhelming and disappointing. He is now a shell of what he once was. Bloodcasting increases the chance of animating the corpse. That is a blessing.
The zombie can now bite people with a chance of plaguing. So the zombie gains a random "bite" attack, but loses second attack., and, I could be wrong about this, but appears less damage per strike(unless the mob itself was toned town some).
This also shows what the Ossuary is about. Mine is level 43 . He replaces a flesh or stone golem. Your choice.
He persists through logouts, Which is nice. He bites things and can infect them with contagion. Super cool! He is also hearty, and can make for a decent tank.

Ossuary damage is on par with the golems. But their damage output is half of what it once was.

That's some of the good and bad on the new necro. It's still early with learning all the new things on this overhauled class....There's more to come!

  1. Now imagine 3 of those zombies doing mutilates each round, and they can dirt kick, bash, or trip. In addition you have the ability to initiate with sleep and completely code brown whoever you're going after and also have a slightly weaker version of hellstream. And for giggles you're landing hits with 3 hitroll. Necromancers are fine even without strength damned.

    1. Golems nerf happened like 3 years ago. That's not new to these updates. One zombie log isn't enough. When you rank some, get the thief guardian in winter and battle troll from the Ford. Then post logs of what they do when strength damned. If they only hits once a round, not counting that gnaw attack thing, then you can assume all zombies got a massive nerf. That would be demoralizing, along with the new strength damned timer....

      Ashlyn, this log is fighting a lady ranger. Put that nerfed "army" into a pk fight and it will look completely different. I suggest you roll one, or anybody for that matter, and try to pk successfully at 50. Your opinions might change.

      1. I love ossuary, happy as a boy and his blob, just keep feeding it high level corpses and it is waiting for your return. Keep the zombies I want a team of ossuaries.

So this sounds like a classic "my pet doesnt do enough damage" type of complaint. recent changes to necros have been geared towards adding some more depth to them, like the zombie patter causing death grasps. If more damage is actually a desired thing for necromancers zombies, then one thing we could do is leverage those death grasps. To do that, we could reinstate power word kill, but with a twist - rather than it just barely ever instant killing someone from full hp it could reliably instant kill someone who is low hp, say 10% or something, then have death grasps increase that threshold so that once you have full stack death grasp, you can expect to destroy anybody or anything that has already hit awful condition, and they will be seeing their red HP too so they'll know its coming. Depending on the scenario (high saves, sanc, etc) could be very useful to just end it with PWK, especially against guys like Kalist who have a knack of weaseling off at awful
