Title: the Battlemaster
Gender: Male
Level: 50
Class: stone giant warrior

Background history:

Description:

A broad shouldered giant tightly clad with battle armor stands infront of you. In the gaps of armor there is solid chunks of stone. His murky green and gray muscles flex from underneath his armor. His eyes are vacant as they are not there. Just empty deep sockets in a chisled stone face. His nose and chin are much more prominent. The only thing that is broader than his massive shoulders and chest are his thighs. Each leg looks like a cornerstone of a massive monument.

I had a incredible amount of Fun on this Character over a LONG period of time I killed every single mob in this game with a party with the exception of Order. I knew my Character was low on hp total of 900 but what really did it in for me was fighting a half-elf ranger who had only 50less hp than me. So I will create another Stone eventually I still have come characters floating around so you won't get rid of me that easily. The only thing that dissapointed me was how we had an immortal who was mia and it happens but so were the upper echelon of the warlords that warlords was created around. All in all I had a great time. Probably one of my favorite characters next to Thodun only b/c I was a Keepermaster.

did you 3 prac or something? trains spent on con?

giants dont really get huge hp advantage over human they get their tanky reputation from the weapon resist. your hp is probably not that far off normal

I don't recall I made the Character a long time ago but Thodun had over 100 hp more than Eldroc so even though Eldroc had a silly amount of things mastered I didn't have a big enough hp pool to compensate for the weaknesses. But thodun I know I two or 1 practiced a lot of crap and spent every train on hp. I can't recall what I did with Eldroc I ranked him before Overseer's Favor was a thing.

I think you clearly see the difference between tenacity and sanc especially against my rangers. Regarding the hp pool I 1 prac everything except beast call, herb and I think barkskin everything else obviously went into hp. I was reading through the fights and I didn't look like you berserked to limit the magic damage I was dealing even with the crap weapons and eq I had at the time we fought. I still think ur a bitch for lying to me with thodun and I am glad I went 4-0 against you. Other than that, thanks for helping me rank =)

I don't recall lying...And I berserked to mitigate a lot of damage sometimes I berserked pre-fight since I knew you had mental stuff on hoping to get the second berserk in before the fight was over.

OK let me break it down for you guys. This is going to be super super rough, so keep that in mind.

If you rolled a stone giant warrior, your base hp is probably going to be 850-ish at level 50. Whereas, if you rolled a half-elf ranger, your base hp is probably going to be 700 hp at level 50. I could be completely wrong here but having spent dozens of time ranking these characters on AR in earlier years.. I'm pretty sure that's how I remember my hp going.

So the question you had seemed to wonder about is why you have low hp. Well, you dont have low hp. You have quite a bit more than the base hp. I think what we all want to understand is how does a guy get up to 850 from 700 whereas you could only get up to 910 from 850.

              Here's the reasons
              1. You're probably 2 pracc'ing, and if we say that there's 40 skills, that's 40 practices, or 40 hp. Half-elves do not 2 prac. They just take the 40 hp.
              2. You're not getting 3 pracs per level. You get 2. that's another 50 hp.

So right now, without doing anything, that half-elf is basically 790hp while you're still sitting at 850hp.

How does a half-elf get from 790 to 850, well, probably the same way you got from 850 to 910. Its not a mystery, the difference is 60 hp in both cases. It does not look unbalanced. You probably just spent 5-6 trains on hp and saved the rest for con like everybody else does.

conclusion is train the character more diligently, giants get big hp bonus and maxed stats easily at level 1 but you pay later. If you want to unlock the full potential of the giant race, you will have to 1 prac for it.

Ofc, there are other reasons to pick a giant instead of a half-elf, size large bash and resistant to weapons is very nice, and the vuln to magic ac is a myth (they have a low ac because of the 16 dex, there is no vuln to magic and never was). It takes a fair bit less effort to optimize a half-elf but if everybody 1 pracced they'd probably be considered kind of mediocre. you might want to consider that high strength is giving you a HUGE hit/dam advantage and go find gear to cover that armor deficit, as opposed to asserting half-elf hp is too high when they obviously get lots of spare pracs and this guy says he sunk them into hp in particular.

Basically I am saying train the character and gear it up a bit more appropriately, there are items with nice magic AC! You dont have to take getting raped by fiery daggers!

Though, you all saw how long it took to train Sirac when I 1-pracced him.-shrug-

I quite enjoyed interacting with Eldroc. Although, I really wanted another duel! It was nice to see him around when I did. A pity you're done with him. I almost feel the same about my main. Meh

Also, what I observe is people also prefer to EQUIP hit/dam over AC. Giants are very compelling evidence to show that is not a straightforward choice since you are basically trading base AC for hit/dam when you create one. I recommend always always having -150 ac vs all damage types [u:3a985d1904]as a bare minimum[/u:3a985d1904] to cover the most rewarding levels of ac before the diminishing returns begin to get more severe. This goes for all characters. Worry about this BEFORE you worry about your max HP.

DO NOT IGNORE YOUR AC.. DO NOT IGNORE ANYONE ELSE'S AC BONUS

(Another perk of half-elf RANGER is that they can barkskin which indirectly is applicable as a hit/dam bonus)

I don't mean to thread jack but since dav is doing it then so be it. Bark skin is nice, maybe coupled with a boar as well then ur talking some nice savings, but with just treant thews its useless. Especially as a keeper the necessary choice to really compete with the serious damage dealing marks is with gambled eq (because of how high the ac is). I don't think the help file stresses the importance of ac. Maybe I am the only one who didn't know this but I really didn't find out how important ac was until xaq showed up.
