A small tabby cat pads around, poking its nose into the corner.

You say 'We should put this cat on trial for being too cute.'

Valindra says 'Seems like good practice.'

Valindra utters the words, 'oculoinfra uizug'.

Valindra pats a small tabby cat on her head.

A small tabby cat walks east.

You are already standing.

The Lore Keeper's Den
* | Upon shoving upon the door of the room, you encounter a
| | massive sea of scrolls and parchment blocking your way.
*-* * * | The papers and books are crammed into to shelves all about
| | | | the circular room, and spill over the tops and off the sides
*-@-*-*| of their containers. In the center of the mess, there is
| | a large, four-sided oak table, covered with more papers,
* | and scattered about with various writing implements. A couple
| of enormous, padded high-back chairs are drawn up to the
| table, and are stacked with yet more books. A sparkling
---------+ gold chandelier hangs suspended from the large oak beam
running the ceiling.

[Exits: north east west]
A heavy oak table sits here, surrounded by eight chairs.

Valindra walks in.
A tiny wisp named Hibbadibbity flies in.

A small tabby cat walks east.

Outside the Hall of Archives
* | You have now reached the top floor of the Inn. The second
| | floor looked wealthy, but this is amazing! The paintings alone
* * * | must have cost a fortune, and all the furniture is chunky,
| | | | solid and expensive looking. Some of the treasures resting
*-*-@-* | on tables in alcoves are probably the rarest things you have
| | ever seen. The wood panelling on the walls is of some type
* | now lost to the world, being very light but silky to the touch.
| The rugs covering the highly polished wooden floor are of
| the very best material and cut, and would in all likelihood
---------+ fetch a king's ransom at any auction. You guess the owner
of the inn herself must live up here, for who else could afford such a place?
A brightly lit passageway full of books extends to the north. To the west is
a set of large open double doors that lead to the High Herald's personal quarters
and office. To the south is a small quiet alcove.

[Exits: north east south west]
A small tabby cat pads around, poking its nose into the corner.
(White Aura) Calram the Moo Herald guards the entrance to the Heraldic offices.
(White Aura) Keeb, the halls curator, snoozes here peacefully on a hammock suspended from the ceiling.

Valindra walks in.
A tiny wisp named Hibbadibbity flies in.
Keeb snorts himself awake and sits up tiredly.
Keeb peers around himself intently.
Keeb peers intently at Valindra.
Keeb says 'What the...Who the...Baa!'
Keeb rolls around and goes back to sleep.

Valindra tickles Keeb.

Vevier scoots the cat along

Top of the stairs

must live up here, for who else could afford such a place? The stairs lead
back down to the other floors of the inn, or a short hallway stretches out west.

1st floor landing
| From the stairwell a landing extends westwards, the first
| floor of the inn. Small brass lamps can be seen lighting
| the way, and numerous doors line the hall. All are plain,
| with small numbers designating which room is which. The stairs
*-*-@ | continue up to the second floor, or down to the ground floor.

Bottom of the stairs
| Here a flight of circular stairs leads up to the other
| floors of the Inn. Small lamps light the way up, hanging
S| on hooks embedded in the walls. The stairs are wooden,

@-*-S| to dampen the sound of footsteps. A short hallway stretches

A small hallway
| This is a plain hallway on the ground floor of the Inn,
| leading from the entrance and main hall to the stairwell.
S o| The expensive looking candelabras remain, providing ample
| || light for you to see by. A door is visible to the south,
*-@-S-*| made of solid wood highly polished with gold trimming around
| | the edges. A small sign is nailed to the wall with directions

Main Hall of the Travellers Rest
| Walking into the Main Hall you are hit by a wave of sound.
| People laughing and shouting, dancing and generally having
S o | fun are everywhere. Many tables are dotted around the edges
| | | of the room, but plenty of space is left for the dance floor.
*-*-@-* | A large stage has been placed against one wall, ready for
| | the regular musician to perform when required. Tapestries
*-F | and paintings decorate this luxurious hall, along with the
| | | expensive looking candelabras that light the room. The floor
* * | around the wooden dance area is covered in a thick, rich
---------+ red carpet that looks like it cost the owners a few pennies.
To the north stands the bar, and to the south the restaurant. Eastwards lies
the entrance to the Inn, and to the west is a hallway. A large sign reads
"Performance List!"

[Exits: north east south west]
A long oaken table has been set up here, laden with food for a feast.
A comfy looking leather sofa with room for six people sits here.

Valindra nudges the cat with a stubby, slippered foot.

A Cloakroom
| As you close the door you feel the warmth coming from the Main
| Hall. You are currently standing in a cloakroom, where people
S o | leave their coats and cloaks before going on further into the
| | | Inn. The two walls are lined with hooks and have quite a lot
*-S-@ | of coats and cloaks. This Inn seems popular. On the window
| | sills next to the door are two well-watered and very healthy
*-F | flowers, one a red carnation and the other a blue tulip. A
| | | few small gold lanterns light the room, and the smells of cooking
* * | drift in from further into the Inn. You can return to the forest
---------+ through the door to the east, or enter the main hall westwards.

[Exits: north (east) west]
A dusty welcome mat lies here inscribed with the words 'Close the door please!'.
(Charmed) A tiny wisp hovers here, shedding its essence as it bobs in the air.
Valindra the Sage of Arcane Power, Lore Keeper of Myth is here.
A small tabby cat pads around, poking its nose into the corner.

A small tabby cat sits down on the ground.

Valindra pokes a small tabby cat in the ribs.

A small tabby cat licks her paw.

Valindra says 'Almost there.'

Valindra eyes the cat's tail as if considering something diabolical.

A small tabby cat meows.

Valindra comforts you.

Valindra says 'This will all be over soon.'

A small tabby cat flops over, showing her belly.

Valindra shrugs, scritching the cat's belly with the wrong end of her gavel.

Valindra whispers to you 'Pretty little dish.'

A small tabby cat mrows and jumps back to her feet.

Valindra giggles, her chins wobbling.

The People's Courtroom
| Stepping into the courtroom, you quickly come to the realization
| that it extends all the way up past the fourth floor of the
| Rest. Thin windows let in small rectangles of light, which
| slowly pass over the many rows of seats as the day grows
@ | later. Several rows of fine mahogany benches sit behind the
| | marble railing which separates spectators from players in
S o | the Court. To either side of a break in the railing sit wide
| | | desks where the accuser and defender may sit while a smaller
*-S-* | stand rests against the far wall, where the witness sits
---------+ while giving his testimony. A box with cushioned benches
rests to the right, waiting for a dozen bored Jurors to fill it. A final dais
rises nearly to the first story, upon which sits a tall chair with dark purple
cushions for the presiding judge.

[Exits: south]
A raised dais stands here with a purple-cushioned chair on it.

Valindra walks in.
A tiny wisp named Hibbadibbity flies in.

A small tabby cat is brought in.

Valindra stands on a dais.

Valindra strikes the gavel sharply, bringing order to the court.

Valindra sighs almost ecstatically at the sound.

A small tabby cat jumps up on the dias.

Valindra says 'Perhaps Pauwyr will be my bailiff.'

Valindra says 'Hear ye, Hear ye, the Honorable Valindra Skitterwit presiding.'

Valindra mutters under her breath as she works out the script in her head.

A small tabby cat jumps down from the dias and starts exploring under the empty chairs.

Valindra says 'You, tabby cat, stand accused of the following high crimes against the people:'

Vevier chases the cat through the chairs.

Valindra drums her stubby emerald fingers against the dais, the other hand gripping her gavel.

Valindra says 'Being TOO cute!'

Valindra says 'What have you to say in your defense?'

Vevier catches the cat and brings her back to the front.

A small tabby cat meows offendedly.

Valindra eyes the cat menacingly, though the effect is spoiled by the bits of muffin dotting her chin. Now where did that come from?

Vevier drops the tabby off on the defendant's table.

A small tabby cat immediately jumps down.

Valindra strikes the gavel sharply, bringing order to the court.

Valindra says 'Order, order in the court!'

Valindra says 'Would any like to give testimony in favor or against the tabby cat?'

Valindra holds her stubby hand to her eyes and peers around the courtroom.

A cooshee barges through the back door, barking loudly.

Valindra gasps, and audibly.

Valindra says 'A witness!'

Valindra says 'You may approach the bench.'

A cooshee waddles up to the front of the room, its little tail wagging.

Valindra looks at a cooshee.

A cooshee barks at you.

Valindra taps a stubby emerald finger against her lip.

A cooshee sits down on the ground.

Valindra says 'What say you, cooshee? Speak now, and judgment will be swift.'

A cooshee whines and murmurs in a passable imitation of actual speech.

Valindra tilts her head, considering.

Valindra says 'Very well.'

Valindra says 'I have reached my decision.'

Valindra says 'The sentence is . . .'

Valindra says 'DEATH!'

Valindra says 'By immortal ingestion.'

Valindra strikes the gavel sharply, bringing order to the court.

Valindra says 'Order, order in the court!'

A small tabby cat eyes one of the rails a few feet up in the air.

You gasp in astonishment.

Valindra silences the imaginary crowd.

You say 'Vanisse is the one with the iron stomach, dearie!'

Valindra says 'Tabby cat, you are hereby placed under house arrest in the Rest until such time as the Mirage of Fortune can eat you.'

Valindra says 'I will consider all good behavior toward a commutation of time served in the Mirage's tummy.'

A small tabby cat meows and jumps up onto the rail.

Valindra pats a small tabby cat on her head.

Valindra whispers something to a small tabby cat.

Valindra says 'Justice is blind, but I can still see a little.'

Valindra says 'Court is adjourned!'

Valindra strikes the gavel sharply, bringing order to the court.

A cooshee lets his tongue loll out happily.

Valindra steps off a dais.

Valindra's hair uncurls and the powder fades away, revealing her original color.

Valindra exhales a little too deeply after doffing the wig.

Valindra says 'That was . . . exciting.'

Valindra puts curly judge hair in a satchel embroidered with the crest of Heralds.

Valindra stops holding a judge's gavel in her hand.

Valindra puts a judge's gavel in a satchel embroidered with the crest of Heralds.

Valindra says 'We shall have a fine trial for the Chimera. Perhaps we should sell tickets.'

A cooshee stands up.

A cooshee dawdles off.

Valindra whispers something to a cooshee.

You say 'Oh! Great idea, dearie!'

You say 'No reason not to make a little profit.'

Valindra says 'I shall beseech the Implementor of Blood for his counselor suggestion. And then the pageant . . . I mean trial . . . may proceed.'

You grin evilly.

Valindra nods to herself, chins wobbling. She must need reassurance.

You have created a "Mama Vev's specialty" meatless muffin!

You give a "Mama Vev's specialty" meatless muffin to Valindra.

Valindra eats a "Mama Vev's specialty" meatless muffin.

You have created a "Mama Vev's specialty" meatless muffin!

Valindra gobbles it up greedily, the bits of muffin flecking her toad-like maw.

You say 'And if anyone on the jury disagrees with your decision, dearie...'

You eat a "Mama Vev's specialty" meatless muffin.
You choke and gag.
Your poison DISMEMBERS you!

You wink suggestively at Valindra.

Your poison DISMEMBERS you!

Valindra makes a note to herself, 'The Collector of Secrets to provide an assortment of snacks for the jury . .. hmmm, yes.'

Valindra says 'A fairer trial Serin has never seen!'

Your poison DISMEMBERS you!

You feel less sick.
A warm feeling runs through your body.

Valindra says 'And if we have any leftover, we can always play muffin roulette.'

You say 'Just talk to Rildan if you need anything.'

Valindra intones solemnly, though again her bib is a bit of a mess.

You say 'Oh, its nothing dearie.'
