Baker's Curse"No, no, no I will NOT swear my fealty to Queen Ilythir!" Caetrenn said
on a fateful day many Celestials ago during the test of loyalty which
ultimately turned her into a drider. Those words are forever burned into
her mind even now, as a result of the curse which transformed her body into
half-spider and half-drow and removed her sexual functions.
At the time of the test, she had obtained a position as an apprentice
sorceress after initially having a more humble station of being a baker.
That she even became a sorceress was a surprise, but she knew how to use a
knife as a result of working in the kitchen, and dabbled in minor pyromancy.
She used these skills to make her work easier. An initial fire in the oven
would become hot much faster under her guidance. She learned how to control
the flames well enough to avoid burning bread, meat, or whatever was being
cooked.
One of the mages from the nearby academy noticed her during a visit, and
encouraged her to study magic. And so she studied books a little bit before
the test of loyalty ultimately came up.
But when the test came up, several of her kin started asking her questions.
These questions were harmless enough at first. Stuff like, why did she
become an apprentice? (To tap into her hidden talents) What was her
profession before becoming an apprentice? (Baker) What element was her
specialty? (Fire)
But when the question about loyalty came in later, she refused openly. At
that point, her kinsmen took her away and cursed her to have the body of a
spider, to have no children of her own, and to have no friends among her own
kin. The transformation was painful, and her clothes were ripped in the
process.
Since then, she has adapted to her unique anatomy, and has acquired a taste
for blood where before her taste was for sugar.
Description (commended):
An abomination of a creature with two distinct portions is here. Up
front and top is the torso of a drow specimen, which is adjoined at where
its hips would be with the body of an enormous spider. It looks as though
her hips were simply merged with the thorax of the arachnid specimen, as
they are still visible and her waist is barely noticeable as it sinks into
her arachnid lower body. She has red hourglass markings in two locations:
first, on her drow midsection in the front near the hips; second, on the
back of her arachnid half. Her spider-like half has a rather bulbous butt
not unlike a bent rose hip or wasp stinger in shape, easily thicker than her
humanoid portion. Eight legs expand out of this body: each has four
segments; a short segment beneath to allow the legs to extend outwards; a
second segment at another right angle when rested to support the leg and for
all eight to support the body; a third segment similar to an ankle, and
finally, a single webbed toe on each foot. Her skin, aside from the red
hourglass markings, is a uniform dark grey of similar color to very dark
slate; not quite black but still a tint of grey.
