Years of warring had separated the dwarf from the duergar, and hatred
amongst internal groups of the duergar continued to burn many years later.
Resources are scant underground, and so the duergar dispatched bands of
hunters and foragers into the forests to gather much needed supplies for
their people. Over time, these duergar were forced to take their hunts
farther and father from their underground home. Trips slipped from days to
weeks, and weeks to months. Some duergar never returned home, presumed lost
to the harsh lands they wandered.
That they were lost to the lands was not a falsehood that it was their
choice will forever remain unknown to their brethren. Paranoid that food
scarcity would continue, and that their grueling hunts would worsen, a band
of duergar had split off, making their homes amongst the forests and trees
calling themselves wildlings.
Druna was a second-generation wildling, and knew little of the world outside
of the forested region she grew up in. She was a fine student, and quickly
absorbed everything the high druid taught her. She soon after began to
experiment with magics on her own, developing a unique relationship with her
cudgel. As time wore on, Drunas thirst for knowledge could no longer be
sated by the magics of her small tribe, and she wished to experiment with
larger and more dangerous targets.
Druna knew that her future lie far beyond the valleys she was borne from,
and on a particularly cold and misty autumn morning, with a word spoken to
no one, Druna slipped her pack over her shoulder, strapped her cudgel to her
hip, and set out from her village - never to return.
Description:
A short and stout young woman is here, chanting quietly to herself under
her breath. If it were not made clear by the earthen odor emanating from
this Duergar, her bare feet on the ground confirm she is one of the forest.
Two bright red curls hang loosely from the bun gathered haphazardly atop her
head, framing her broad face. Her skin is a warm golden brown, with dark
freckles spread across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. Bright emerald
eyes gaze out from beneath an unkempt brow, and patches of facial hair can
be seen on her upper lip and chin. Her body is otherwise concealed behind
her many cloaks which are secured to her body with a series of leather
straps, each of which is lined with potions of a variety of colors of
textures. She is using a strange and warped piece of wood as a walking
stick.
