The Entrance to the Dwarven Mines
You are in a large cave. The ceiling is lost somewhere above the reach of
your light. The floor, however, is highly illuminated, your light
flickering over several tombstones. Only one is whole, the rest have been
shattered by some savage blow. The remaining tombstone looks disturbingly
new... A small breeze of fresh air enters from the south (probably lost
too). Take a good breath, it may be your last mouthful of air in a long,
long time that others haven't breathed before you. To the north a small
tunnel continues into the mountain.

At this point the path has stopped and opened into a large clearing. The
signs of battle are freshest here corpses of half eaten dwarves, orcs, and
kobolds liter the area. A little to north you notice a large mine opening
in it can be seen only darkness. On the mountain side is carved a large
faintly glowing sign. To the south is path leading back to civilization and
away from this horrid place.

As if the night wasn't dark enough, the sinister hills around you makes it
seem even darker. You get the feeling that the hills are closing in on
you, towering over you, overwhelming you ... The small path seems to have
second thoughts about these hills because it starts winding unnecessarily,
turning several times around itself. To the south the hills have a
lighter hue of dark. To the north however, the hills have become
nightblack holes in the distant mountains.

Eastern Road.

Windswept Plateau of the Dwarven Mines
A stunning view of the Eastern Road is available to all who stand on this
ledge. The wind buffets even the most solidly built contraption. There is
no cover at all. The top of a ladder peeks up from over the ledge, leading
down into a difficult section of the trail that appears impassible without
the ladder. To the east, you can hear the sound of gurgling water.

I don't want to give too much away for DK's, but you have to try and maintain weapon/combat advantage.
One word, hitroll. His was obviously way higher than yours...just go through all the available stuff on the AR web site, about combat and weapon styles/hitroll etc etc.
Also, try some spells, like curse or poison etc etc.
Umm... yeah, have full health when you attack. You were kicking his ass, if you had been 100%, he would be dead/running.
And what's with the hints? Were you holding a charm of knowledge or something? That means you're giving up shield block/dual wield if so.
At this point in the fight you were already severly hurt. For a class like a DKN with only limited healing, maledictives serve better in the early fight to weaken the opponent for a more drawn out fight. When you are as hurt as you were, it's not likely you'll survive long enough to maledict him up and then go for the kill. I think going for straight damage was a good choice. Well played
Well fought. Only thing I would look into is hitting vulns. I'm assuming from the 'bird man' comment, that the enemy was an avian. Ivy sword should be attainable for a 29+ DK. If he's in your range, and aggressive, it's worth having one in your inventory. He'd probably have been dead before he realised what was going on, considering the damage you were outputting anyway.
