    The immortals want most players to be warriors/berserker/thieves, even in a fantasy world its more logical when most of the armies consist of warriors instead of illusionists or something. But because you cant tell people what class they must pick you can only make it so that they want to pick a melee class and not a caster. And its working.

    This is an illithid vs a slash weapon wielded by a magic resistant dwarf warrior. It is like "proving" warriors suck vs berserkers by using a gnome warrior vs a fire giant.

    Some guilds (e.g. clerics, other mages) don't find it as easy to exploit slash vulns.

    Sure they do, there are 'claw' type exotics and such. But cleave damage wasn't everything. Got nothing out of the 2 dupes. Why did 3 dispels fail after the 29 hitroll dreamstrike? Etc, etc, etc.

    Claw exotics dont cause problems with the illithids parrying ability. Unless they are already able to parry every weapon type the same as exotics which would be bunk.


    An illithid is making a mistake if he tries to whore hitroll. He's got a dogshit vuln. If this was a drow illus (high int AND high dex for hitroll boost) it'd be a different story. A very different story.

    Point is, this is a strawman - you can't use this to prove illusionists completely suck.

    You weren't paying attention to the new changes. He's trying them out.

    But, even still, 29 hitroll isn't going to be effective against a dwarf warrior (who probably also has a little saves on him) who has two ranks on you. You two are in the low 40s, you're going to need at least 30-35 hitroll.

    Also, just because the dreamstrike caused some damage doesn't mean the intended effects happened. You may have to try it more than once, you hit a "devastates" dreamstrike on a dwarf warrior (good mag resist) once and got mad that you didn't dispel him immediately after. I'm sure dreamstrike will alert you if you weakened his mental prowess and other than that it's a low damage spell.

    I believe another part of it is that it's note going to be as effective anyway because they want mages at 50 (like everything else).

    Not much testing done, but I don't think it tells you anything, I think when the dreams connect, its there.

    Either you get dreams do whatever damage, or you get you have failed to dreamstrike your opponent, something like that. Also, believe once you get the dreams damage, any further attempts seem to be automatic fails, leaving you to believe its already stuck in there. So when you get the damage, I think its good to go.
