I was on, and he tells me he is a treasure hunter, and has a secret quest that I can tell no man about. He is piecing together the clues for a great mystery that will bring something unbelieveable, he says. So I go get him a pirate's cutlass (the next clue is inscripted on the blade), thinking I might really get something out of it, and just for RP's sake, and then I 'who newb' and look at him with combat armor on and feel like an idiot. But besides that with other characters I've made the discovery that he's pretty much a douche.
If I understand the attempt at English in your second paragraph correctly, sounds to me like you got tricked, quite well and completely in character. Good for him.
