Main Street
This was once a magnificent street, but now is in total ruin. The streets are
barren and windswept and the silence is unending. On one side is a collapsed
house while on the other is the entrance to a large ruined mansion. Eerie
sounds echo within the mansion. Near the center of town you see a large domed
building, relatively intact.

The guy is pretty newbie, altho a great person, yeah i would feel bad about killing him aswell...he prolly couldnt even understand what oath you were talkin about:D
  2. Mendek I actually feel bad about this... -
Looks to me like your RP is total bullshit. A good knight would judge an evil on their actions, not whether they took this oath or not, especially if you're sure the guy doesn't even know what you're talking about.

Look back to the old Fianna vs Arkhalis and Mikhael RP.

All you did was attempt to RP, then cookie cutter cheese nuke evil right after. You made no name for yourself and garnered no respect there.
  3. Tarkinth Wow -
So...Mendek... You were there, alright? And therefore, you have no idea what happened or what was involved. I spent a long time talking to him and he knew perfectly well what the Oath was and what it was for and what it meant if he didnt want to take it. Yes, he is new, but he chose not to take the Oath BECAUSE he wanted to battle and improve his skills. I didnt loot, I didnt gloat, I taught him some stuff and he seemed pretty freaking happy about that. SO, next time you feel like you're in a bad mood and want to flame on someone, go and make sure it isnt on a log that is like 2 weeks old and that you have some idea of what you are talking about alright? AND BTW, Knights are supposed to kill the unoathed because we are at WAR with anyone who is not oathed. Maybe if you want to try and claim Aryan's perspective you should try to talk to him about it before you just shoot your mouth off?

This is the same paladin that lies and breaks pk rules.
  5. Clifton I actually feel bad about this... -
Also, I don't see a Knight flag by Tarkinth, so I don't see how you can justify Knight ethic when IC you don't know what Knight ethic is. Unless of course, it's some excuse for cookie cutter cheese nuke evil.
  6. Cythlan I actually feel bad about this... -
Actually I can sorta see something in this. It's like missionary vs crusader here. Where as missionaries like the jesuits lived with native american tribes in attempt to convert them and crusaders would conquer to convert them. Then again this is french vs spanish we're talking about...It'd be interesting to see someone take a peaceful approach, it'd have to be a noble or someone who isn't actually supposed to be violent though.
  7. retard I actually feel bad about this... -
Cliftion youre backing up Mendek when he's wrong, which while nice for Mendek's ego, is not good for the boards.

Mendek, youre out of the loop and don't know what you are talking about. Oath-forcing has been a staple squire task for a while, effectively forcing Legion apps all buying protection. It is not possible to have both together, so you show where you stand that way. This pk dynamic isnt meant to be just a simple cookie cutter. It just gets the ball rolling for the pk.

    Knights eradicate evil.
  8. mendek I actually feel bad about this... -
Knights eradicate evil vs Knights convert evil.

In the end, which is more effective?
  9. Mandor I actually feel bad about this... -
Oathing is a cheap way to eliminate 1/3rd of possible enemies, anti evil items arent as much use to you anyway.

Oath is a promise to do no harm to Valourians. what do you do with someone who refuses to oath?

Natural evil class and race characters only come into existence by being evil from 17 years old and under. dont want to die for race or religion reasons, dont be natural evil. of course you can still oath with valour, which means they cant stop you from ranking up, something which I think can and should be roleplayed from level 1+. whenever i see those "the game is meant to be played at 50" arguments I simply roll my eyes at all the times I've heard this is an RP mud. drows hate elves and humans, duergars hate dwarves, and by association, dwarves hate duergar and can hate fire giants too, since the helpfile of fire giant says they get along well with duergar and even humans.

The HISTORY of Thera sets precedent for certain races automatically wanting to cleanse the other, simply out of racial tensions. if you dont like being taken down for who you are and what you represent, dont choose a natural evil.
  10. Mandor I actually feel bad about this... -
certain classes AND races having class and racial tensions. also if we really want to discuss this why not take it to the actual forums and link from here to there and vice versa, as this is a log board.
  11. Cythlan I actually feel bad about this... -
I dunno I've always had the theory that maybe ethos affects your decisions more than alignment. A chaotic will attack someone in town no matter what, which i would associate with more of an evil type, neutral will sometimes attack in town if it is to their advantage, and lawful will never attack in town and most of the time are the ones defending others, so that can be associated with good. Ethos determines your actions, alignment determines how you go about performing those actions.
  12. Mandor I actually feel bad about this... -
chaos refers to freedom, laws are made to keep order, order is good for goods and evils, law =/= good or bad, but goods or evils can use laws for good or evil.

by that theory, chaotic goods would be more evil types then. for AR, lawful-chaos scale is mostly about dealing with seringales laws, although theres certain other roleplay ideas in the helpfile for good/evil and chaotic.

Evil justices have to defend you if you're under attack, because thats what they believe in ethos-wise, and their position in that cabal allows them to do that, which is why an evil person who murders someone outside seringale to take advantage of laws by running inside seringale can be seen as justice protecting evils.
