Could I have got some space and healed a bit mid or late fight? Sure. Could I have flee murdered at the end instead of wrathing? Sure. Did I really need to? Not really. Even though some of the later ones were berserk boosted, I had the guy at awful for a zillion rounds and was well on pace to winning, even as it became more of a gamble. Sometimes you just get hit with the unlucky stick and can't get any weapon hits through at the end.
