I'm sorry... what....

I think cabal powers have gotten a smidge out of hand.

Power: atonement : modifies hp by -80 for 4 hours
: modifies damroll by -20 for 4 hours
: modifies hitroll by -20 for 4 hours

This skill started with something like 24 hours for reference.

Been saying that forever, Knight skills are ridiculous. that and Purify are beyond retarded, and so are the "balanced" people we have putting them in at this point.
  2. wj Untitled log -
Wooow. That is a bit ridiculous. I really want to make a keeper now.

Knight skills? Did I miss something? What, imprison, squire, holy weapon, and mount? Those don't do much.

Never heard of purify, though. What's it do?
  3. deadzero Untitled log -
Sorry bout that, didn't realize it was a keeper skill, but none the less.
  4. deadzero Untitled log -
purify makes it where you can't touch any anti_good equipment, which while it doesn't sound amazing makes any evil basically naked for forty hours. so you can't get the stuff from your corpse or it will drop to the ground, so you lose all your equipment either way.
    and you can't re-equip.

squire skill does really nothing, except the obvious.

Imprison is a balance issue versus abduct for legions, so needs to be teleport death on both, so all eq is scattered.

Holy weapon... doing nothing??? cure light in battle every 1 te 2 rounds. and extra damage if I am not mistaken.

mount. um, extra tank anyone? hey flee and they still have to flee to be able to chase. or any skill just entered will hit my mount so I can run in and get an extra 1-2 rounds. not to mention the movement thing with them.

So... Knights have stuff, and I am sure they have more than just that.

    not saying other cabals don't.
For those I will just refer to the second line of the log.

Make a new caballed character yourself. You've developed pretty huge misconceptions about what certain powers do, and until you get those cleared up, I don't think you're going to be able to make a strong argument for cabal powers being overpowered. You're trying to infer the full implications of these powers based on empirical evidence, and that's resulting in misinformation.

Outside of mount, holy weapon, imprison. Purify is still gay. hands down, gay.

and no, I won't make a caballed character because the game is hardly worth playing anymore anyway. So I will log on my ten hours (if AR is lucky) a month on my non caballed char.

    and esura, enlighten us then.

Living wood vs decked out caballed... yeah, gl.

living wood vs a thief with 15 damroll and 17 hitroll taking DISEMBOWELS and MASSACRES through sanc every two to three rounds.... yeah, gl

It also probably scales based on the number of rares you have..
  11. balaks Untitled log -
All cabals have their perks but you are also not mentioning the times they log on with 3 or 4 legions on attacking their cabal and they are forced to defend.. no amount of cabal powers or fancy equipment will help you when that happens... you just enter a world of pain.

    1) It is a great powers vs great responsibility issue. The drawback of required cabal defence is easily exploited to pin that player into unfair number advantages. There needs to be a worthwhile tradeoff.

    2) Any uncaballed who basically does not want to fight, does not need to. On the other hand, an uncaballed will probably lose if they have incurred the flag. This is an appropriate disadvantage for somebody who has not got the vulnerabiilty of an area to defend.

    2) I would not be opposed to nerfing powers if they seem too extreme. But people have been invited to complain about them and they just dont. In fact what people seem to want is "early second age AR" with wild, cake to use shit that pwns people in a simple matter of rounds. Cabals go well with that sort of player and they are designed to appeal. Legion is still considered a crap cabal despite extraordinary powers compared to when I played. That is because the bulk of the cabal players want superhero powers and they really dont have it that good. Neither does Knights, or even the Justice cabal. See point 1.

    3) Much of cabal warfare stays largely between cabals, fights over items and grudges and whatnot. These are people who each have cabal powers at their disposal.

Sorry its hard to organise my thoughts in this tiny box.

    "Neither does Knights"

Purify's a pretty big SOB to deal with. 40 hours of sitting there, waiting for the time to dissolve so you can go get some anti-good armor again? That's pretty gay.

As far as cabal vs cabal I think the skills for the most part are appropriate (atonement aside). However if the point of the game is to PK giving one "side" a clear and in some cases extreme advantage (like atonement vs any class without a natural slew of defenses or healing weapons and nearly infinite moves ) is just making it so either

    A) noncabal don't pk at all
    B) people stop making noncabal chars and opt only for cabals.

I think B is what we've been seeing recently which is why there's almost no end game at this time.

Against players with no cabal I think both Knight and Keeper skills should be toned down. I understand how hard it may be for someone with no rares to defeat someone fully rared but isn't that what the whole idea for Keepers is? Using strategy and tact to make up for the lack of rares.

Cabals right now are a crutch imo. There may be the setback of an area to defend, but let's not forget the boons that often go unmentioned like defender potions and detect invis potions as well as medic scrolls and so forth. They have that system rigwarl thought up if they're outnumbered, plus their cabal minions to help them fight. Have you tried fighting a guardian recently to get dispelled and cursed within seconds of each other? To me these are ALL things to make up for having an area to defend and a 'job' to do. And all that is before we even mention actual cabal powers.

Cabals should be a place for the strongest players who don't need all these extras to win a fight. You think Sanary, for example, would be half as successful without exploiting stallions? It\x92s just not balanced, just like shamans or warriors used to have the edge, now anyone in the right cabal has the edge. The only difference is, any tom dick or harry can\x92t just get into a cabal like they could roll a shaman or warrior.

Yeah Erlwith, but you forget that neither knights nor keepers are forced to go against uncaballeds. So if you don't want to deal with them, don't make yourself a target. If you are their target, then you've done it all to yourself. It's really just that simple.
  17. erlwith Untitled log -
There's nothing wrong with being a target. Just make the the battles less one sided so there's actually a point to fighting back.

"A) noncabal don't pk at all
    B) people stop making noncabal chars and opt only for cabals. "

which is exactly the opposite thing you see in real game terms currently. I like the 'info' command...
  19. Clifton Untitled log -
Well then don't complain about cabals having buff powers.
