    i remember ranking with a monk in emerald, him tanking full round of rangers, running to town killing two guys, and then returning to tank another round.
    and we are talking about worn steel eq, and most of key monk skills not practiced.

    monks are cool. I think there's only one last monk in the realms? Although I would agree that monks were somewhat overpowered. Perhaps reducing the effects of their different stances? Take away air trash perhaps?

    Ungimp remaining monks a little? I doubt they actually need to be ungimped. They dont really wear much gear due to encumber in the past anyway. Prayer beads/Mantra? Chakra strikes if lucky would still kick ass i think. Air trash and trips on mages. Probably warriors classes can stand up to them now with the new combat module, but you cant stop the monks from attacking you as they are in hand to hand combat. So their damage output is still high enough. Are monks ever returning? hm...

    While monk attack output is impressive they can be parried. dodged and blocked as any other weapon. Problem is that with axing monks people don't bother practicing/training hand to hand skill - hence they parry hand to hand really lousily. Back in the day you made sure you had that shit mastered.

    Skill is likely spiritual mantra or one of the stances at max rank...

    i'm referring to sideswipe raking main weapons, but it does not rake hand to hand combat, not talking about parry shield block and dodging. With the amount of attacks he's dealing, i think he's in monkey stance? Not sure about that though. I thought tiger was stronger.

    monkey stance was basically haste, tiger was dam roll I think it was the last monk skill you got at lvl 50 but I never got that high with my monk who cares about combat module no one made that many monks to begin with any way this game is supposed to be fun. I mean what about ill illus githnaru or naugoroth duergar shamans can still own and ills are ever so deadly just let people have their fun!

    Pretty sure you got tiger stance at 23, and it was the best damroll stance but it got gimped. A lot. Last stance you got was buddha stance, or whatever and it was the spell save stance.

    Tiger was 23, Crane was either 13 or 14, Horse/Buddha/Monkey were in the forties. Last stance was the Dragon Stance. At 50 your primary yumminess was your beads, as they offered alot of health and hit/dam.

    last stance was dragon stance (I use to play a monk) the best part was the anatomies of monks. You got the Chakaras based upon how well you could fight each race. I remember practicing for hours on humans... avians.... so on so on. you guys all forgot about some of the defense stances for a monk hah and drunken stance was the best. You would speak like you were drunk and trying to hit someone in drunken stance was ridiculous... back in the day monks were somewhat easy to kill (shamans and necromancers) use to chase monks all the time.... thieves too hah monks were great but as for too powerful .. nah it takes alot of work to get strong enough to be "too powerful" just about as much work as any other character to max out skills.
