Verrnixx tells the group 'How does that work ?'

Shouldn't it have targeted me, not him?
  1. slade How does that work? -
A non-afflictive will cause a mob to redirect to the caster if not already engaged in automatic round combat.
  2. bassball How does that work? -
He casted lightning bolt though, which is an afflictive. Atleast he told me thats what he casted

Verrnixx utters the words, 'diesilla barh'.

I'm not proud of this but i recognize that to be lightning bolt
  4. rekkakun How does that work? -
quite simple. If you are out of combat, any spell casted on the creature will make him target you. So to make him not target you, if you to be drawn into combat first before you cast the spell.
  5. Vertas How does that work? -
Not true, the talamaur wasn't targetting anyone yet, so him casting the spell made him be the target.
  6. m1co How does that work? -
Gah, you're so close, yet so far!

If you lose concentration with afflictive spell, mob directs his aggro to you, even if another person is tanking.
If you fail a maledictive/mental spell such as dispel magic, it will also direct aggro to you.
If your lightning bolt would'nt lost concentration you wouldn't had gotten aggro.
  7. mullet How does that work? -
    m1co is correct.
  8. Jezikapine How does that work? -
I don't have the actual answer, but
I do not think m1co is correct regarding the loss of concentration. Otherwise there would be a lot more squishy spellcasters that die during ranking, especially in the 15-30 level range when characters' spell proficiencies are lower.
  9. Hrimo How does that work? -
Talamaurs just happen to be bastards that redirect their attacks too.
  10. mullet How does that work? -
    god damnityou muther fuckers.

If you INITIATE with a spell of any kind and lose concentration you will take the attacks of the mob. If you initiate with an afflictive spell, you dont take the hits. If you initiate with anything else, you take the hits. Stfu and listen.
  11. retard How does that work? -
m1c0 is pretty nearly correct but the answer you are looking for is whether the spell does any damage to the mob or not.. failed spells dont and thus they make mobs redirect
