I was at low health, and I saw a fire giant unghost deliberately right after collecting his things.. Because of experience I knew he would attempt to hit with possibly dual wield to kill me off. he crawled towards me, instead of away.
The first fight began with sanctuaried dual wield bash spam though, luckily my unholy armor saved me from that, but not to worry, it was pressed for time already and was forced to log before I could quit, and he found me afk and killed me and took most of my things, including weapons.

Yes, I had two icicles. the reason I didnt use them is twofold. first, they have horrible offense power, even though it goes up in the offhand, it doesnt beat a segment such as whip or exotic.
secondly, they drop your strength by 1 per ici, and my armor setup wouldn't allow that without a str penalty per ici, and you'll notice that with a bare minimum of armor and weapons and some minor extra crap in my inventory, I couldn't even loot his corpse, so carrying extra equipment isn't a solution for now until ranks alleviate that problem (only slightly).
also, I landed about 3 chill touches on him, so his parry and incoming damage and ability to overcome my parry would be reduced.
The auspice actually helped me out a number of times, although a shield actually works unusually well, but dual wielding a dream catcher with iceballs sealed the deal, despite a 3 rank disadvantage.
Theres no way to avoid combat style skills but shields protect you against the lagging ones , leaving you free to cast. Overhead is just about the worst shit ever and sideswipes slowly kill you, so you have to do 1 handed casting in non-gank fights.
