City Hall
A grand building with long luminous corridors stands before you. Torches
and lamps line the walls on either side of you. Golden pillars stand every
10 feet away from one another. It is a regal sight - much different than
the rest of the city which seems to be in utter ruin and despair. Evidence
gives that at one point in time, Darkhaven was rich and a beautiful seaport
filled with visitors and guests from all lands. The walls are a bright
white in color and in the center of it all stands a blue swirling orb that
has been broken by some unseen force. A blood stain is present upon the
orb.

My luck was calamitous for both fights. :\\
illithids resist blunt, mental, energy, electric, and some others that I'm not sure of.
They share the light vuln of drow or duergar. the basic attack with a weapon tells you what kind of damage it does, and you want it to do brilliant or luminous damage.
And illithids are in fact resistant to energy. But you're correct about them being vulnerable to light (slash as well).
As a note, I just noticed Kapruski posted something since I wrote this. I don't doubt he knows what he's talking about.
Ah, energy and electric are the same thing.
Illithid resistances that I remember are mental, charm, energy, and blunt (Behelros really hurt Zitthirax with a blunt weapon once, but that was probably because he was wielding Vlad's Voulge. [/tangent]). mental and charm are similar, though I can't recall the difference right off the bat. Energy is anything *shocking*. Devil rod in the sewers, crackling thunder hammer from Darsul, sparkling lightning sword, shock whip, etc. (Nerve swimmer too I think, but you get the idea.)
And illithid vulnerabilities are slash and light (already mentioned).
