== Well, much better than last time. I was told by an observer that had I communed wrath at the end instead of trying to skirmish, I would have won.
  1. kalist Ceridwel vs Rothak -
    Hobble won't mess you up in combat but it might make you stumble when you flee. Right when you get hobbled, maybe try slipping in some wrath. You didn't wrath once that entire log... Also, fleeing then attacking again isn't skirmishing. Skirmishing is when you disengage, run and heal a bit, then attack again.

    In this log it looks like you are trying to play a paladin like a warrior. Don't do that. Your advantage is you can run around and heal while he tries to hunt you down. Do that, and get in some wraths and this might go better.
  2. Kapruski Ceridwel vs Rothak -
    hobbling does mess you up.

    low levels 2 dex and 2 str are worth one hit and 1 dam respectively. higher levels, 1 dex and 1 str can be worth 1 or even 2 hit or dam.

    hobble costs you 4 dex or so. its basically a dirt kick or curse, and then the lag is so long from a faceplant that you get free rounded.

    Skirmishing works best when one player is clearly better, or when a casting class has trance and an assload of cure scrolls. Otherwise, smart physical classes will be healing over the tick, and that's just something you don't want as a hybrid without trance. A drawn out fight is not your friend with 20 mana regen per tick while sleeping. Its a very fine balancing act, doing enough damage for it to matter, and then fleeing and healing up to full, and then coming back to finish. If the fight goes one one tick beyond that, you're screwed.

    As we can see in this log. Not enough damage done for fleeing and healing to matter. Rothak's back to nearly full health too.

    you're saying there isnt much wrath spell going on, but then again he is getting chain bashed by a fire giant.

    lag skills are hybrids' worst enemy. dodge protects from lag skills. hybrids lost dodge and the armor skills replaced the lag skill protection from dodge. I believe it's a 1:1 thing, so you are required to load up as heavy as possible to have full protection from lag skills that dodge would give. Wear armor too light and you're a free kill to a bash/trip/grappler.
  3. Kapruski Ceridwel vs Rothak -
    I'd really like to reiterate that lag skills are hybrids worst enemy. they have half a warrior's health and less defenses. casting is how they are meant to make up for it. spam lag skills kill them every time. It's really that simple, just load a hobble first and if they don't flee in time, bash and trip away.

    I realize that chain bash is not a fun time when you are on the receiving end. You simply don't win as a paladin vs warrior by standing still and crossing your fingers.

    After a second read through I stand with my initial assessement. Let me break it down.

    Round1
    594 hp - Fled. Should have communed a wrath
    422 hp - Fled. Should have healed but got caught (then ran and healed - good)

    Round 2
    465 hp - Fled. Should have healed
    314hp - Fled. Should have healed
    204hp - Fled. Should have communed wrath. You just got hobbled with 204hp and he is pretty hurt, you may as well go down swinging. (Plus he would have been hurt more at this point if you had been fleeing and healing earlier - more fighting rounds)


    Let me address your counter-argument of 'he wouldn't have had enough manas to do all that'. He died with 267 mana. That's enough for the healing and wrathing I suggested - possibly more wrathing due to the longer fight caused by running and healing.

    When I say 'should have healed,' I do not mean 'should have stayed in combat and healed'. I meant 'should have run and healed'.

    I'm not happy you would argue against me when my advice was sound. Those aren't chain bashes.... Chain bashes are when you are kept in combat constantly, being bashed every 2 rounds, not giving you a chance to even flee. This was just three bashes landed in a row...during which time he fled twice.....
  12. Nadrin Ceridwel vs Rothak -
    Yeah Rothak killed Taelrask a couple of times by chain bashing. I would win most all of our other rounds, because of my running around, reciting medics, using skills when I could. But one round where he engages advantaged before I can switch, and the bashes start... it sucks because you can have flee typed in ten times and nothing will happen as the lag draws out further and further. But just ask Rothak. Same thing there were six or eight other times where he should of been able to kill me because of chain bashes. Ie the last bash would miss and I would flee with 2-3% hp... those rounds made me cringe...
