    Sorry i didnt mention important things. My zmud doesnt save much logs.

    Reguarding the fight I was prepared as I thought I should be iron weapon some javelins. Then I noticed Zero damage. Then didnt know how to adjust.

    the best way to counter this is to murder flee with axes or whips to get the most hits in. Not sure with the barrier change if the whole shield fails to block an axe or if thats blocked by weapon ward, but regardless you want to use weapons that get the most hits in to suck up their mana.

    Clearly in this instance Dugan wasn't prepared wearing a shield against a mage, why? you have dual parry.

    Second where are your pets?

    Third it doesn't matter what weapons you use against barrier it just sucks up mana, no more mana no more barrier. The trick now is to fight an invoker like you would an illusionist. I can't imagine barrier lasting more than 4 to 6 hours so just keep that in mind during the fight.

    Hopefully someone with more skill posts a fight with an invoker with the new changes, but barrier plus medic scrolls and mystic tendrils seems beefy now...

    scrolls cost mana and the mystic tendrils dont give a great deal of mana back for how much they damage you. so that isnt a great srat.

    triple post ftw. elves also have a giant mana pool so tryin to stand toe to toe with an aff spammin elf and tryin to deplete their mana via dual wielding physical weapons against barrier is an uphill battle. good luck with that oreno.

    Thanks for the tips. My initial approuch using javelins and iron sword was that bad It wouldve worked, Had it not been for barrier. It worked well against magic users. Plus Being a gnome good shield block.

    Shouldve had pets yes. That wouldve made the difference.

    I wonder what changes rangers going to get. Fury?

    Well for starters as far as I can tell scrolls dont cost mana to cost, thats a false, Medic scrolls might, as I couldnt test that myself so that is unkown. Javelins imo is a bad option against mages, its not like hobble or sideswipe were its blocked by weapon ward, its blocked by protective shied, which is a 7-10 hr spell compared to ward which is 2-4 depending on race. I'd say always go dual wielding against a mage, hands down because they only have two options, go two hander and lose a defence, or go defensive and be disadvantaged with 2 defences. Vs your extra attacks. I think you were boned from the get go, just from your lack of response to the 0 dmg output you were doing through barrier, you just werent prepared for that. you just kinda bent over for caid. Best thing you could have done was run after the second round, rethink your weapon selection and try again.

    As Far as javelins conserned scrolls suggest to use the, The murder flee works well with it. Yes javelins have a chance of hitting through protective shield. And it did and caused zero damage but it did. But its useless now they they get barrier.

    Parts where not included ive done more than you can see on this post. but offcourse those parts are Zero So I cant make any point. crap

    I will use the dual approach.

    I wouldve escaped but my fingers froze I was jiggling and had to backspace quff recall. Then I died, I had the time.

    I think this is BS. It's almost the same thing that happened with Ygin where they changed the material vuln AFTER she deleted, and now here comes Caid and all of a sudden gets barrier so she doesn't have to deal with material vuln, even after it got lowered from high vuln to low? I call BS.

    Invoker getting barrier isn't that big a deal. I draw the analogy of avian invokers using mana shield to annul their vuln. You just have to notice what you're fighting against. If you see barrier, magic weapons; mana/fire/ice shield, physical or appropriate magic weapon.

    This sort of sucks for keepers because they can't use their forged weapons. But I'm assuming you can't have barrier and mana shield up at the same time, so invokers are going to soak up damage from one source or the other.

    I was thinking. More damage per round Vs The invokers helltstreams with is around 10% through sanctuary. Hack down mana with dual wield. And avoid getting hit by hellstreams and meteor swarms.

    I want to see someone break the barrier headon.

    Yes but everyone will always still just max out aff saves and greatly reduce damage output, what I wanna know is if you can have barrier and mana shield up at the same time and what the average mana loss per hp loss conversion is for both, and which is more effective.

    This seriously creates an imbalance.

    Invokers were fine before that, but the people playing them weren't good enough to use them. I kind of figured out how to use them, but I quit playing because I didn't like being in Justice again (and because of losing my things to bad luck in a sudden reboot after a death).

    The ability to enchant any weapon to a good, competitive level makes the invoker a very good class. They can generally hit any vulnerability between their spells and their weapons. And they can almost always have enough money to imbue/buy randoms. People often pay handsome rewards for enchantments, and if you consider someone a potential enemy you don't have to give them that which they seek.

    But generally speaking, the invoker is a powerful class. Drow/elf invoker can use autosneak to toss off an unsanced hellstream. And I think giving them barrier is a bit too much. I'm a fan of invokers, but when they become this powerful, I feel a change is REALLY necessary.
