5 1/2 hours a rate of 1 silver ore per 6 minutes.

I'll never spend my time so badly again. :(

    What gem did you use?

And you only put the ore in the furnace for nine blasts.

You need a gem of equal or higher level than the object you are trying to make if you want it to be of the best quality. And it should be ten blasts.

What I did was wait for five blasts, then pressed return so I could tell when five more had passed. Ten makes a big difference.

Stone of dragons. level 50 rare gem.

it was 9 blasts, and dav says in the guide to wait 9-10 blasts and it didn't seem to make a difference for him when he did 9 as opposed to 10.

I'm not going to try again. 5 1/2 hours for 1 rare is uber stupid as a human use of such a short rea llife span

The reason to hit the mines is for gold. The ore is just a second bonus while your getting trained and getting rich. I have forged tons of 50 ore items that had no penalty. 4 damage items that only take away from armor class ect. Its worth it but I certainly wouldnt spend the time JUST for ore. That would drive me mad

I thought it was Hammer Grip Hammer Grip until you finished? Does it matter how you hammer grip?
  5. Frostburns And so it begins!! -
Vendrt> I've noticed it seems to make a difference. Must be one hammer to begin and one grip at the end though.

I can't remember which one has three hammers and five grips, but I remember achieving good results with that one using hammer/grip/grip/hammer/hammer/grip/grip/grip. I believe that was a girth, might not have been though. Might be girths in addition to breastplate.

Object 'dragonblood plated belt' is type armor, material steel.
    Extra flags: none.
Weight is 3 lbs, value is 5850, level is 35.
Armor class is 10 pierce, 10 bash, 10 slash, and 7 vs. magic.
    Affects dexterity by -1.
    Affects damroll by 3.
    Affects hitroll by -1.

just as good as tier 3 forged item, and level 35 gamble.

Kurlson has the right idea. I submit that possibly the imms intend people to collect the ore while waiting to rank, and then Pking people would try to grab ore for themselves, making players the ore loot pinatas.

otherwise I can't conceive playing for 5 hours for that.
  7. Frostburns And so it begins!! -
My understanding of gathering ore was to get the GOLD first for the most part.

It's most effective at rank 50, with various methods.

Berserker raged and swinging is one way. Invoker has a number of options (corresponding to lightning/ice/fire shield and their AOE moves). Presumably paladin has flamestrike (if it's still AOE). Bard has Four Seasons song (if necessary). Etc.

But unless someone has gone in and not grabbed the ore (happens fairly often), it IS possible to get quite a bit in one pass.

The ore is a side benefit, basically.
