    That means that the thief who blackjacked me and myself were both Protected from Legion. When anyone kills a protected person that person becomes Contracted. So despite the fact I was protected it moves me to being contracted. You can pay off contracts at Vinny where you buy protection. For me to buy off my contract it would have been 280k...

    Truth is, you could talk to Valox about being re-instated since he has the power to just remove the contract. However given your gear, I would expect it will be decided by if your items are needed by another legion who is around at the time you talk to the forsaken about it. At least if I were forsaken, that is how I would make the decision because you had the option of letting him flee and not killing him but bashed him to death instead lol.

    Eldroc being neutral means hes not from Darkhaven. without Darkhaven hometown I do not believe he can see anyone elses protected or contracted status?

    If you're not from darkhaven you cant see protected or contracted.

    This seems to fall in line with the concept of the non-existing assassin cabal. prior to changes, even though the assassin cabal was defunct, people still got paid for collecting contracts, meaning if you were a non-cabal with enough balls and ability to back it up, you could get yourself some bank.

    Due to that making uncaballed more powerful, subverting the anti-gank rules of cabals for money, it was ruled unfair by whiny knights and so gold only goes to legion cabal if you fulfill a contract.

    Contracts are useless to anyone who isn't legion, protection would be nice for anyone who is protected but not hometown of DH to see, and the whole system needs a rework imo. It's been this way for a few years.

    Kurlson and everyone else. Yes if you are PROTECTED you can see who is CONTRACTED...Regardless I assume. I am from Seringale and I could see the various people who were contracted. Not that many but there were some.
