So he's 5 ranks below me and gets his spell first try while mounted? I don't do mutiles through aura with the vuln and high average weapon with 50 damroll??
Yet I get crushed while superier combat style to each of them the whole fight. I don't dirt kick b/c every time I have in the past they rub it out before I am dont beling lagged by it myself so I am going to disarm and flee murder. I"m decent usually but I could use help figuring out what I"m doing wrong here.

    here's +7 damroll from fiery fangs, and not hitting a vuln or resist, hitting low magical AC armor class rating. Notice how terrible it is although it has much higher damroll, and even while mounted.

    you were able to do disembowel through sanc with a 1 handed weapon. That's not bad at all.

    contagion seems to land easier than other mals. I think it's meant to do that to get through someone loading malsaves as a lead in to other spells. I also like that it interrupts hiding, otherwise you could just go camo.

    There's about 10 minutes or more of separation between those two fights.

    Mount spell casting is bad when you have low nightmare control skill. max it and max your spell % to have better casting ability. mounted does not decrease whether it successfully hits or not, just whether it casts. Drow have 24 int so they at least have that going for them for successful casting.

    also, unholy armor provides lots of AC damage, and you can find high magic AC items to stack.

    each 100 AC is -10% damage. Punch is a vuln, but it is also a magic damage.

    you said you usually do good, so use weapons where you do good if light punches aren't working. they have no parry. Maybe try some mithril based staff or something.

    You're trying to disarm someone using a two hand weapon with set parry. You cant disarm someone who has set parry and is using two hand. It's like double grip for warriors.

    How to kill a DK.

    Combat style doesn't mean anything unless you have hobble or you're trying to disarm. Two hand can disarm dual wield easier, hybrid two hand cant be disarmed.

    weapon advantage is good like against rogues. get extra hits in and stuff.

    Two wyvern rings and a pair of mythril boots from gordon are good. Some crimson minotaur armor will mal and aff save. the idea is not to wear too much. you dont need to be immune, just make it unreliable enough to cost them many rounds in combat, where natural low hp and bad parrying and extremely bad shield block will get them killed.

    Dual wield if you want 6 attacks a round. They cant get anything from two handing against you except maybe better disarm. They have no combat style or weapon type skills.

    Kill their horse. If they fall off it they get caltraps and it costs them ridiculously like -5 str -5 dex -5 hit. dismounted and overweight, they will quickly run out of moves.

    any class that can lower their strength should try. overweight/no weapon/no parry. Roar, I dont care if you're not raged, you still get them to lose str. poison, weaken, nerve, etc.

    if they dual wield, you can disarm them. They don't know staff. Use staff and disarm a dual wielder to make them feel lots of pain.

    Dirt kick in the place it lasts the longest. Forest for rangers, city for rogues, wherever for warriors which is probably fields and woodier areas.

    Flee, murder them. You should do this to anyone, and it works really nice on low hp races and classes.

    have enough hitroll to get past defenses. 25-30 without hitroll buffs like warcry would be what I think is minimum. Make use of enhanced damage and third attack. 3 mauls is better than 1 main and two parried. double with dual wield for more fun. Dont rangers get dual parry?

    Bash them. Every time they are lagged a bit is less spell casting time which is more time in a fight = more time to die.

    It was always fun to bash paladins with an unholy strength frenzied dk and watch their hp just drop to the ground. Getting murders in and fleeing to vamp touch is the same for dks. Delay both with bashing.

    If you have more strength, you have better parry. Use swords and maces to get superior weapon type and stop more attacks. A two hand dk is putting all their reliance on 1-2 hits per round. If you block them, they do no damage. Blocked and bashed, they do no damage and cant cast or flee.

    Try to bash them if they are mounted too.

    Dirt kick will work a lot better with high parry and/or weapon type advantage compared to the dk. You get the benefits of the advantage to beat their parry, the benefit of parry and dirt kick to protect from their attack, and if they flee it takes about 10-15 rounds to rub out (seriously, its hella long).

    Watery eyes good if you fight them in a place like crossroads where they could flee into a room that will block one or more ways of movement. With watery eyes they cant see where the exits are. This can lead to a free murder.

    You've got double disarm. That would rape Lurayel. W Staff -> double disarm -> hosed by pets and double enhanced damage.


    Definitely go after the weapons with disarm. Shield disarming is pretty useless because shield block for drows especially is pretty useless.

    You can still use a bow against a two hander. they can parry arrows like normal, but not with big advantages like shield vs bow. Carve up some mithril gear into arrows and hose their ass.

    Also, I think it's pretty lolarious the reasons trance and dodge were removed. Not that they were meant to be there, but it was because pals and dk were "too good". Fire giant warriors of doom, cheeslers, human rangers and human shamans still exist and rack up really high body counts when abused properly.

    To the point, this is intended. DKs got unholy armor to replace dodge, providing an around-the-board damage reduction instead of a RNG-based one - this can be a 15% or 20% reduction if the DK has enough base armor and bonus. A good fighting a DK is subject to protection as well as unholy, so you should expect to do way less damage than to, say, a drow warrior or ninja.

    That is your problem. You really need to keep your hitroll at a minimum of around 30 to be competitive at pinnacle. 30/30 is fine to start and you'll get it up to 30/40 with wereform. Sure you may be able to pwn mages with 20/50 but good luck getting through any warrior-class defenses.

    hybrids have 2 defenses. clerics and invokers have 2 defenses.

    the problem, kato, is that elves and drow have high dex, so they already had high AC naturally, and dodge is their best defensive attribute. humans and elves get the same AC bonus, so the loss of dodge still hurt elves more than humans, especially when you factor in the 18 strength parry and 15-16 con shield block. a human still has 21 str and 20 con to fall back on, as well as the new AC bonus from armor.

    Humans can also carry twice as much with that 21 str. Most people who play elves, like Ceridwel, Iendlir, Bendimer, etc, were constantly having to choose between large armor skill bonus or decent rare or gambled gear. That skill bonus isn't just damage reduction, it's also very important to protecting yourself from getting lagged and now from getting clobbered/dirt/disarmed and such crap.
