  1. That sack though, like 100k gone. or 750 relics. Kinda demoralizing how easy it is to undo that much effort with that much safety

If all you crave for is attention then surely there's better ways to achieve it. Hardly impressive to type 3 commands, quaff recall, run other direction, quaff recall, run different direction again and repeat when adrenaline wears off.

      Pretty lame and boring.
      1. You are wrong. This is completely the best way to do it.
      2. Sadism is alive and well.

    2. I've been telling you, thieves are the WORST!!!! That's why I'm going to KILL THEM ALL!

I'm not the hero you asked for but I'm the hero that you need.

      1. Well first let me give a disclaimer that I have been drinking, although this has keeps coming up anyway so today isnt much different than the last several hundred times I read it. Obviously stealing a sack nowadays isnt the same nuisance it once was of losing an enchanted fiery or a few purples. It collapses a guys saves and golfbag of weapons in a manner that leaves the victim up shits creek. But there is another side of the coin, which is that killing and looting is what makes AR's items valuable. So what we might do to improve here is just draw a random item from the sacks when you "steal" them, and a player could try to counter this by filling up on pointless junk and wasting the thiefs time chasing the easy target
        1. I think people are doing this wrong. They need to be uhhh the monk knight who last deleted - he had a bag for everything. The more bags the better. Decoy bags. Sacks. Backpacks. Pouches. Purses. If the thief sees 7 different holding items (all closed of course), they'd be paralysed by inaction!

Its not just the sack. A thief can type a few commands and completely strip you of weapons, as shit from inventory is so easy to steal especially for a halfling. This means you wont be able to do shit vs any aggressors / probably lost a shit ton of time.

All this while the thief itself is basically invincible if played extremely cowardly like Flinnegan. Just run a million miles away quickly right after the theft, recall to temple in 45 seconds when adrenaline is gone and hide and you are safe.

Another thief? Shadow? just run further, you got unlimited fly scrolls after all. Quit out or whatever.

Its just pointless waste of time trying to chase someone like Flinnegan if you cant access detect hidden. I am not saying he is any good, no, he is an average player who knows how to (ab)use things to preserve himself.

to recap: Stealing all your supplies and weapons and other shit by few commands, game design making them almost impossible to catch and kill w/o being a designated class.
        3. 1) This game is no stranger to designated class counters.
          2) Thieves suffer a lot in the ways of combat for being trolls. Low health, little options for sustain, not many known weapon types, etc.
          3) The fact is this playstyle isn't that popular among the player base, and notice how thieves only start popping up when one person is decked and dominating for just a little too long. So, if that person get's their shit taken, player base is low enough that they can re-equip pretty easily. Xenyar said it themselves, it's almost too easy to get decked.
          4) If you're really that concerned about it, wear your sack so it's harder to steal, and stay away from major cities. I hate being robbed by a thief just as much as the next guy, but with the state of rare circulation as it is, they are a completely legitimate counter IMO.

completely legitimate counter would be to grow a pair and actually play a char that can PK. Its just desperate jealous losers thinking they are badass when griefing. If someone got decked it means they put an effort into it and deserve it. Bring them down like a man not expect praises for playing a wimpshit class literally just to grief because you are not good enough to get shit done otherwise
        5. I'd rather see 3 thieves gangbang and fullloot the shit out of a person than one thief grab some rings and a sack and hide forever.
        6. Idea of the week: Thieves can only pry and steal during combat. Put some risk into it. Would change the class entirely, but its an idea.
        7. Oi twerpalina mate, you make it sound as if I personally shagged your mum. Twasn't me, it was me flatmate who did that. Maybe you should get over it.
        8. Just wear your containers and activate your adrenaline. Can't you smoke something now that wakes you?

Also thieves get weap improvise + bow, so they can wield any weapon type it just wont be as proficient as having the actual weapon type skill. I think thief pathways would fix the outbursts of steal/pry, but you're asking to be blackjacked if you regularly run winter and hang out around populated areas.

I personally feel Flin is doing a great job, theres always going to be that guy that steals/pries and runs off, but imo its not frequent unless you are up against the same guy. Just gotta think like the class to beat the class
        9. its just an idea to restore the fun trade. remember fun is a currency that gets traded around. so you wanna make sure that isnt too out of balance or it feels lopsided and people start logging off. its the same as trying to fight a 100 hit/dam character or a shaman with lady luck. traditionally stealing a sack wasnt this buff, usually. and they are 100% success rate. so i think we could even change cutpurse to make it target sacks and slice holes in them

          in combat steal sounds fun
        10. Change thieves to rogues. Give them fencing so they have an attack viable while counterbalancing and give them a nuke with a long cooldown like a musket or handcannon or something. Only steal and pry in combat. Make blackjack doable at any condition as an escape mechanism.

        12. ok forget it no problem.
        13. Nono, I didn’t mean to derail you. I think it’s great discussion. I was just having a chuckle.
        [reply to Davairus]
      2. Also there is effort in stealing, thieves gotta eat too

Whats hilarious is when ppl make a thief to steal/pry your thief and run off. Thats when you know someone is salty
        1. Effort in stealing? You're joking right? I mean... sitting around waiting for someone while hidden in Seringale not to be in their guild. I guess thats effort. Considering how many current 50 thieves exist it does not seem that effort is that onerous. Landing a blackjack has some luck involved, but even if you fail you can run. I would surmise three-quarters of current players have enough speed and skill to evade out the adrenaline even against the best. The other two are brand new.

For me, it amounts to people finding enjoyment actually wanting to make the game less fun for other people with no risk. Ever notice every time there is a shadow justice the thieves don't log on? Wonder why.
        2. When looking at active thieves, don’t count me in the “annoying thief category”. I’m not an annoying robber. I’m a thief-hunter. I’m here to show that thieves can be a threat without stealing/prying. I’m here to show those annoying thieves that they aren’t safe in the shadows.

          I’m here to rescue you.
        3. Eh, however you perceive it. Players are different, not all of us will stand toe to toe with adversity, but I'd never underestimate a thief, they might make you hate the game or something

But honestly whos fault is that? It's not mine. It's not Flins
