I had the most success standing by a watchman, casting zero spells and just switching weapons to maintain combat style advantage. Any spell/skill you use guarantees he will use the lag time to gain combat advantage then instantly overpower barrage/sideswipe/hobble/dirt/bash.
At least drow is better than demon elf so maybe you have a shot. Probably better gear too. Good luck.
