  1. I think Illusionists need some love when a single AoE attack can destroy all dups at once and a duel can end in 14 seconds. It would be nice if dups didn't pop like that and at least stuck around for the fight!

  2. Djinx clearly wasn’t trying here. No sanc up, no response when Jinjarak clanked in, no response when starting up the windmill cleave, and then they just sat still for three rounds. This was clearly a “This slith wont leave me along until I duel them so let’s just get this over with.”

    It’s also not clear which duels Jinjarak chooses to post and why. Given the 0 effort on Djinx’s end, I would venture to say this one isn’t worth posting unless Jinjarak is making a habit of posting all of their duels. But there’s some odd picking and choosing here. Care to elaborate?
    1. I will answer your question, but if you keep up this shitty insinuating attitude I won't post a single log in the future. Because your toxic attitude is really not worth dealing with to create some fantasy narrative.

      Every single person that I have dueled has agreed to a duel and if they don't want to duel I don't ask again. it was not clearly a This slith wont leave me along until I duel them so let’s just get this over with.

      I posted this duel to show how easily illusionists dupes pop, but he clearly put 0 effort into this fight and that is disappointing because he definitely has spells to prevent it and chose not to.

      Quickly going through the log board and counting all the duels I posted about half of them and Savanti posted about half of our 10 duels. So in total about 30 of my 50 duels were posted, my 2 deaths against Kryton are up there.

      What is so odd about me posting logs to help people understand psi fights, my losses, fights against paladins, shamans, invokers, rangers, warriors.
    2. What spells do Illusionists have to prevent dups from popping? As soon as you cleared his dups, the battle is over. It wouldn't have mattered what he did after that point, he is toast. Unfortunately, Illusionists are very reliant on their dups in PVP, and once they are gone, there's very little you can do except run and try to resummon them all.
    3. Yeah, Djinx didn't try but I agree with Reld. There isn't much an illusionist can do in pvp. They need some love. Says the guy who once made a novel length forum post of ideas on them...
    4. Jinjarak, I opened up the conversation for you to explain. Tone can be hard to insinuate from text, but I can see how you took offense. Honestly, duels logs don’t interest me much, but if it’s the only thing getting logged I’ll read them. But from this side of the screen, a lot of your posts look like ego stroking. I’m glad to see that’s not the case, because your explanation seems completely reasonable. Not that you owed me one in the first place, but if I smell something fishy I’ll post to get a vibe if other people feel it too.

      Anyways, you don’t have to get so defensive. Questions aren’t toxic, but throwing insults are.
    5. Tough is tough, you're right. I'm one of the people always encouraging the fight logs. I find them a very useful learning tool. Almost wish we had a curated list of the most educational... maybe we should start a forum thread cross linking the best by topic, class etc
    6. Has anyone even paid attention to what Dav said recently regarding how one keeps the dupes from popping? It's counterintuitive, but allegedly having a higher level of one stat makes a difference.

    1. Like everything else, Illusionists require careful prep and skilled use. Slow vs fighters is key like Kalist recently said on his gy, and as an illusionist if you can land dreamstruck you can do a lot. Dupes don't ALWAYS pop on AOE damage, but they certainly can, and they can be recast. This is a poor example of showing the weakness of illusionists. If you want to test an illusionist, you need someone who is semi-competent and at least trying. One thing Illus will never be is great duelers. They will either win in seconds, or spend the entire time running around healing and trying to restart.
      1. Recasting dupes isn't very viable in a duel without the ability to word and gate away since you lose them when you flee. If they can be so easily multi-popped it would be nice if they could also be multi-cast all at once with a mass dupe or something. The idea of finding time to cast 3-9 spells to resummon and buff your dupes in the arena seems unlikely.

        What do you think you can do if you land dreamstruck? It is a very minimal save vs mental reduction and illusory creatures can be fled from as soon as they are summoned. You are far more likely to just get yourself killed trying to land these things than you are to accomplish anything unless there is something I do not understand.
      2. Refer to my second to last sentence in my post. One thing Illus will never be is great duelers. I stated that clear as day, lol. They aren't MEANT to duel like that not really. They are meant to be glass cannon dps, and like most glass cannon dps it only works when the dice rolls go your way.
      3. Dreamstruck is random in it's strength, and if you wear hitroll gear it becomes more consistent. Incidentally, hitroll gear tends to have higher AC then HP gear, which means damage reduction. I have seen Dreamstruck do minus 20+ mental which means all the rest of their other spells land, and it also means dupes do more damage.
      4. Yeah, I know you said that. I was agreeing with you and providing more details and a proposal in case being non viable in the arena isn't the goal?

        If dreamstruck can actually function at that level then the intelligence differential must have quite a large impact. I have only tested on myself and obviously I can't be smarter than me! But the help file explicitly states that dreamstruck does not increase the damage of duplicates.

        Slith warlord warrior is a particularly bad match up for an illusionist. As you say, they are glass cannon DPS. But I think perhaps that reputation in PVP is a bit inflated as a memory of the past. The level limitations on duplicates now greatly restricts their damage output against players. As a glass cannon everything is basically a damage race. You can't grind them out. But a warlord slith warrior in tenor... I do not know if there is any winning that race. Even if you land a great dreamstrike the mental spells don't matter if you don't win the damage race. They have to flee from you. And with undispelable stance, natural Mal resist against slow, low level dupes... yeah it just likely isn't happening.

        I know Djinx didn't try very hard but I don't think should act like some master strategist could win this match-up in or out of the arena. I challenge anybody to prove me wrong.
      5. I actually do want to try though if anybody wants to loan me some warrior gear sometime! It would be fun to see how close I could get with an offensive load out.

      8. But that's just more of what I said. Misdirect and terrain only help if they flee from you (or help you get away). They might help you win flee murder exchanges but you can't flee or you lose your dupes. They have to flee from you. Feeblemind maybe reduces their parry ability a little but it is a maledictive not a mental. None of these things meaningfully help you win the damage race. You'll just die trying to land them all.

      11. Why have a discussion about balance with someone who isn't listening? I told you all the ways I have been successful with Ilu, and cited what another vet has cited on how they were successful. Are they what they were? Of course not, they were broken. I have an Illithid Illu that had one death on it, because I could memorize all the strongest dupes and made the mistake of coning at a level 60 slashing mob to cheese a player. Cheesed a bunch of other people. Like Necromancers they were heavily overpowered. Were they fixed too far in the other direction? Maybe but the class is not supposed to be able to own all the other classes. It could before, now it can't, now like the others there are classes it is strong against, and there are classes it is weak against. If you want to contribute to the pk balance to illusionists play one at 50 in a cabal where you are forced to pk, and post logs.

        I'm not the one who isn't listening. I'm the one who is correcting your misleading information. All of which I know you know. You're just being careless in your wording.

        It's no secret I don't care about PK. I'm only having this back and forth to
        1) see if you actually hace a way in mind that you think an illusionist could win this specific match up somehow
        2) to mate sure somebody who does care doesn't read this and get the wrong idea about how illusionist abilities work.

        The vet you are referring to (Kalist) will tell you directly illusionists are weak right now. I don't even know what you got upset about in the first place! We agree on basically everything. It's a bad matchup, duels aren't good for them, maybe the illusionist correction went too far. Your inability to have a conversation about balance has nothing to do with me. It has everything to do with you and how quickly you revert to defending the current state of the game rather than having a productive back and forth about the nuances. Things can be functional and still have room for improvement. And things can be tightly balanced and still have room for the design to be more interesting or fun.
      13. I am certainly not upset. However, i am certain I mentioned several times that Illus would never be warlords. There is no situation where the illu wins this fight without setting the duel in the ford and landing every spell while their duplicates tank damage.
      14. Regardless what anyone says about the viability of illusionist to win a duel with a warrior, the value of which is debatable, the illusionist is way, way harder to kill, and still a solid pick for that reason alone.
      15. Yes very true! Don't get me wrong I love my guild! People nearly never attack me. I have narrowed the cause down to the frustrations of chasing an illusionist with no interest in fighting and how indisputably loveable I am. It could be either one!

    2. Illus can kill warlords outside the arena. I doubt an evenly skilled and geared illu will defeat a warlord inside the arena (especially a monk). In order to win you’d have to land slow really quickly and then land terrain quickly and then land flash fire quickly and then have your dupes land blows without popping. Zstrxiq didn’t do terrible I think but def much better outside arena.

      In this log I landed slow and then kept chasing the warlord around and killed him on Kaelric
