Xhao bleeds yet again (ungar)

i must confess that i felt shame with this defeat

i felt in my soul that i could have done better than this

i felt that five missed dirts was the universe conspiring against me

for a moment i felt as if i was worthless. i was nothing. i was unowrthy.

then i realized that the Blood God would be pleased. he does not care who bleeds -as long as there is blood

i realized that event hough i was killed and was looted, it would only help drive the story forward. dying is definitely worth it if it helps to generate depth

as always i am open to criticism

for now i bask in the feeling of battle. this is a marvelous game

    1. See Dav I told you he was using macros for Directions, when I fought you on Belamie I started laughing because you would instantly disappear in duels with perfect directions to go heal in the same spots.

    4. A while ago there was a character that quit out within 40 seconds of fighting. We determined that to be an adrenaline bug. We fixed the bug, but made a new bug that ghosts cannot quit out. The player tried to quit and found that bug, and next went to try the rage delete method (the one that locks you out). It didnt do the lockout.
    5. BTW I don't know why ur lying about inputting directions with a macro, when you input n enter n enter you move when you put it in a macro nnnnne you don't move lol until all the directions are put in.

  2. Tough luck, Xhao. Besides terrible luck, you missed your dirts because:

    1) you initiated with dirt, which I think has a lower chance of success than using dirt mid battle
    2) you kicked dirt while flying in crane stance
    3) you’re in the arena, the terrain which has a lower chance of landing dirt than somewhere like the ford
    4) remember duergar have a 20 dex, which means you don’t have a crazy high chance of success even if you put your +1 human stat into dex

    In general, I would avoid fighting a warrior in the arena as a monk. The advantage is strongly in the warriors court because you don’t have many places to get distance and heal.

    Also, against smart players, when you run away in one stance, switch before you get back into the fight. Here you ran when you were in leopard (actually in superior combat style, and maybe could have turned the fight around if you stayed and dirted and built up some chii). Then notice when he re-engaged you, he was in offensive to counter your leopard. Switch to panda to anticipate this.

    Finally, duergar are weak to drowning, so your offensive stance of choice should be drunken. That stance is really effective at mitigating damage so even if he hops quickly over to 2-handed and hobbles you, you’re probably gonna to stagger out of the way of his big hits.

    Finally finally, if you haven’t already, get like a +4 dex buffer to mitigate the effects of hobble.

    1. All valid points. More importantly he maintained style advantage against you for most of that fight. Two-handed against your crane. Dual wielded against your leopard, etc. I’m not a big fan of starting fights in dragon either. Warriors are the toughest to beat, especially one that knows what they are doing
      In high tier gear. Don’t feel bad about losing to one…. Just look at my record against Szrevan.

      we made a deal that we would have two fights - he wanted the arena and i wanted zodiac island. i do not feel that a warlord is allowed to refuse to fight in the arena. such would bring dishonor

      it is hard/impossible to maintain combat advantage without the warrior being dirted which is why i tried so hard to dirt him. to be honest i forgot about crane flight - does not seem to effect movement cost so i wasn’t sure if it really makes you fly. that is a great idea with the drunken stance comment! i will have to try that

      i only started in dragon for the extra 100hp. i have the fortitude of a baby gnome so every bit helps

      macros for movement? i don’t know what you mean - i use the numpad and have some areas memorized
