<<<<<Whew, safe. I rest up which takes forever cause caster. Then I get properly set up, so I am wearing the right weapon, have all my spells up. He logs out ten seconds before I was about to attack his guild guardian... lolz.

  1. So what are we looking at here? Your 47 hit roll is probably post grandeur so your marines are still level 45 because you didn't have that hit roll when you cast them? Or did you do some gear swapping up get them at 50?

    Trying to judge the efficacy of those effaggies. Was that all those rounds without then landing a single hit? They were in the fight and you just don't have blocked attacks being shown, right? Or were they just in the first part and you lost them first flee?
    1. So I hasted the marionette, causing granduer to take my hitroll to 49 and summoned the first marine at 49. Then I hasted it, causing my hitroll to go to 51 so the second effigy was 50. I guess I don't have blocked attacks being shown, how do I change that so they show?
    2. "nodefense"
    3. I believe "nodefense" is the toggle to turn on and off seeing blocked attacks.

      But wow. So that's a level 49 and a level 50 hosted marine landing 0 attacks? Is something bugged? Were they not fighting or not gettng the upgraded hit rate? That just didn't seem right. That's supposed to be the most dangerous thing in the illusionist kit with very heavy gearing requirements to use not doing anything at all...
    4. Yeah, looking at it again something definitely seems bugged. The marines aren't fighting. We can see Trilane parrying and Zyron raising his forearm to block attacks so it doesn't seem like nodefense is set. Auto assist is on because the marionette is fighting. We don't see marionette getting blocked or missing so maybe it never showed minion non hits?     8. It's a combination of effigy damage and your own damage. Monks defenses are just superior.

    12. It just looks like a balance tweak thing to me. I looked at Fawn's log which is conveniently also against a monk and it just seems like the misty mirage dependency is currently overtuned to the point of being a binary on off switch against a monk. The core class feature of a class shouldn't flip between 0 damage to majority damage imo, especially when it also already has a full gear set pre req. Imagine iffor an invoker had hellstream do 0 damage unless they have 50 hit roll and a passive spell up. It's just too much.

      The monk can freely monkey clamber because he's in no danger.

      Just my opinion though. Could be wrong.
    13. So first of all I know almost everybody here plays/played an illusionist to level 50 so they should somewhat know what they're talking about. I mean that the opinions given are qualified by experience. You guys are saying unanimously that the damage from duplicates sucks, even with mirage and level 50 dupes, and I understand that would be frustrating. After all, there was a past iteration of illus where the mobs were dirt kicking, bashing, tripping, disarming, everything, and you could group gate them straight to the mob factory (3 rooms from north square). Dupes were totally badass and destructive. However, its still a valid counter-argument that monks have good defences that should matter, and another reason why you'll definitely get responses like that is because the mud is not just illusionist fighting illusionists. There is also "everybody else" who can tell you that grabbing 3 dupes risk-free and then demolishing players through sanc is ultra cheese. For every old timey illusionist player who remembers the days of yore where illusionist purely steamrolled with duplicates and brooms, there's three (or more) players who were in the GROUP that same illusionist easily solo'ed, full looted, ruined their day, and they look at the illusionist class as total fuckin' trash. So we have to have SOME guard rails, otherwise they'll just log off on you. I mean keep arguing the point if you want. But this is something that affects whether people are willing to login or just play when you dont play.

    15. The trade off with clamber is it's only really useable against casters and communers and unless combined with a major cooldown only lasts a few rounds at most. A simple weapon swap makes it a risky maneuver against warrior types.
    16. Not unanimously. I was just telling them it is normal for illusions to not hit the monk, never said it was an issue.

  2. Aside from healing, and the movement buff that was being discussed (last I heard), monk defenses do seem to make them a bit steep. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like most past monk discussions exclusively revolved around using monk vs Kryton scenarios as some kind of metric for all matchups. Hopefully I'm mistaken though.

    What Dav said about illusionists sounds reasonable.

    I'm pretty bad about keeping up to date with things sometimes, so if you guys can correct or inform me on anything I say that's inaccurate then it'd be appreciated. Thanks
