This is a story of an ordinary young man. A winged young man, but still
an ordinary one. His story is rather simple in it is beginning. His
parents were servants in one of the many churches of Serin. This church
whose teachings were not terribly important overall. They did not teach of
loyalty to the gods, or to a specific light or dark driven purpose. It was
something else altogether, but that is not his story.
His earliest memory is of playing in the mountains. There were other kids,
and like him they were all serious. Playing was fun, but their games all
had purpose. Lessons within the games. The games taught by various cowled
monks, they were taught to hunt, to sour in the sky, to hide in plain sight.
Commonly, games were hide and seek, or tag, only there were obstacles to
play on.
Later, the games drew new meaning, as they were trained for their purpose,
they competed. The child who accomplished the most, was fed the most,
rewarded the most, and they received the most attention. Naturally, this
bred various resentments. Korzin while skilled soon found that he did not
want to be in first place. He found that he was able to triumph over his
age group easily, but it was boring, and the resentment he received from
doing so caused him to not win any longer.
Still, he learned, he trained, he grew older. As the cycle continued itself
and more classes began their training tragedy struck. It was a plague, and
it nearly wiped them out. The land was stained with their blood and pus.
The plants withered, and the animals were infected. This plague was unlike
any they had ever seen. He barely survived, and the rest of his class did
not. Still while some few of them recovered the land did not and thus his
first mission was born. The cause was not natural, but magical in nature
and he was to find out what it was, and so his search began.
Description:
Huge black feathered wings extend up and out from his back, folding at an
angle to drag on the ground behind him, or spread wide carrying his weight
through the air. Coal-black hair falls around his angular face hiding
various pockmarks that looked to have been caused by some sort of outbreak.
His whole form seems covered in some sort of black cloth, making it hard to
tell pretty much anything else about him...
