    4. I think the room descs/mob descs are an essential part of the experience, the way I see it. There's multiple levels to go over an area. One way is to just walk around it and interact with the mobs and bash stuff, solve its puzzles (if there are any). Sometimes a desc is involved in that. I think of this as the analog to "looking at the pictures". But then there's also just going slowly through the area, reading all of the prose. And you really know an area after youve done it. It adds meaning to all the rooms. Its certainly why I was able to fly around the mud at 90 mph

The way I look at it is room descriptions, player descriptions, item descriptions etc are the backbone of our universe just like pristine graphics are the backbone of a great FPS game. This is exactly why I'm such a hardass when it comes to player descriptions. An error in a description is like a cluster of bad pixels in the middle of Call of Duty. If we don't even bother to read descriptions we might as well close our eyes when fragging Gordon Freeman.
