A matter of Respect
Moira's life was quite simple before she left her village. Her father was quite happy with her taking up being a healer, do to it being a bit more of a 'woman's art' as he said. While there are many respectable men of the faith, the dwarf always felt that woman should be a healer while the men focus on more important things such as the exorcising of the undead and demons. That was one thing that irked Moira more than anything. Her father, for all his careful care of the village, lacked respect for her, and she found an extreme distaste for it. Even to the point that she had enough with the man, moving to study at the guildhall in Seringale and travel through the land with whatever may come. Her patron deity's teachings taught her to know the difference between many things. And so, she moved to travel the land, and experience life.

Description:

Deep red locks are carefully braided into twin buns on the side of this woman's head. She seems to have a frown upon her face, as if there is something about her that she dislikes. She looks young and fit, like many a dwarf would. She seems to have a sense of regality around her, as if she was something more than a meager appearance let on. Her eyes, a deep cerulean in colour, seemed to be wary and distrustful of any who walked near her.

If I ever again catch you (or anyone) stealing money from your own cabal bank and giving it to an enemy cabal I will refer you to what happened to the last person who got caught doing this:

Do not bother applying for Knights again any time soon.

It happened once and Kigran pushed this character to do it, to prove her worth as a member of evil. I.E., in character.

Since the day's of that link which you refer to, I got caught up in a spat with someone 'sitting behind their cabal guardian' in a 1 v 1, same level fight. Five years ago, that was an auto uninduct. That isn't the case now. So your reference is out of date.

Btw, are you seriously THAT upset over the gold? Or is it something else? Because if it is just gold, I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone - golds easy. It isn't a wanted flag, by any stretch of the imagination. I still remember that drow ninja who got into Legion, the one who would hound Ona, squatting at his cabal guardian and refusing to fight Tuston. I complained about it and got a "This is an IC complaint. Use those channels."

        How is this different?

I'm not going to get involved in this one unless fireworks start flying, this isn't the kind of hill I want to fight the "in-character actions should have in-character consequences" battle on.

I will say I respect the attempt regardless of whether or not others consider it cheating and if the player takes his lump like an adult I have nothing against him for it.

Crappy deal for the Knights, but it was handled with the character that did it. Moira was pretty much left alone and got promises of protection and power from the Legion and crossed over. I doubt it was an OOC vendetta against the Knights or bad RP, I mean, she was seduced by the dark side.

First off, you're acting like I'm a repeat offender. On any of my Knight characters I was devoted to helping the Knights. On Libera, my Legion turned Good, I went to further on help the Knights. Moira taking from the Knights to prove her resolve to Kigran was an in character matter, which it seems that you IMMS didn't get. I sent the note to ya'll to 'start' the process to convert, I was not expecting it to go badda bing, badda boom lets get it over with. That was whoever was in charge. Then I had to go and sit down with Dav and deal with the whole none sense what was gonna happen with me.

I figured since the guy who's RP turned me deleted I might as well delete her. I didn't have a certain RP fleshed out for her, I was just mostly spending my time training. The two Knights who I knew were Taganoth and Amira, both who had deleted. The character was floating in Limbo and I had no help or anything afterwords, no note from any other Knight or the Imms saying what I should focus on. So that one is on you guys. Don't go around flinging shit where if you would seen her being talked to and tempted you should have handled as an Imm while being in character, not going around complaining to Dav like a bunch of people who can't do things for on their own.

I was slain three times in total, which I expected would happen. And wasn't too bothered by, considering Nyct slew me a few times on Libera because he forgot he had before. In all, if you're gonna get your panties in a bunch if you guys did nothing in character wise to keep Moira around. Nor you or the other Knights. If they didn't see her in person, you could have use notes. That is why they are there.

Kigran was too low rank to get support for that kind of thing. It was a flash-in-the-pan character that never made it past Minion iirc.

I like how Olyn called out my legion defector when he was the one to instigate that with Balan, and I actually put the name out.

And like I said, I was willing to work towards conversion, I wasn't wanting a quick turn over on it. I'm sorry if the note I sent made it sound like that.

You pretty much demanded it. And there's no going back from the RP you set in motion. If you're good align and say, "Fuck Knights, Fuck Vanisse (your deity, not the player behind the imm), I want power from the dark lord" there's nothing gradual about it. From that moment onward, you've broken the virtues, your religion, and your align.

I think what's happening is players are pushing the boundaries for change. I, personally, thought Moira's withdrawing of Knight gold to give to Legion was brilliant. Because I was there IC when all this was going down, and it was the perfect plot to turn against the Knights who had for so long beaten down on Kigran and I 5 ranks up. Deplete their war funding so they cannot gear as easily, I feel this was as far from OOC as possible. None of us to my knowledge knew each other, and to tell you the truth being a follower of Zafrin I was already plotting on how to turn on Kigran, and when. I was also going to try and steal Uvet's souls to try and feed to the old ones and rekindle the link between worlds.

I never knew this would have been frowned upon out of game. IC, it would have made them all more alert and drew some interesting political battles and sessions, good juicy bites for the Mystique, no great ones.

I don't completely understand the delete. You got busted doing something that is frowned upon and then outcasted? That 'falling out' should've been the basis for some sweet RP.

I don't have a RP bone in my body, but I've had several outcasts that I was able to claw (RP) my way back into good favor. I don't know. I just don't agree that a lot of characters seem to have this static RP and as soon as there is a bump in the road they delete.

@Arunore: that's what the big disclaimer is for in help legion

Not even the entirety of our imm staff is entirely capable of handling Legion RP. Personally I don't think what you did with Moira was out of bounds, but it was in the red zone.

The danger of pushing the boundaries is that it might piss off the immortal enough to annihilate you. Sometimes that means it pisses off the player so much he takes it OOC, and that's unfortunate. But, the in-game effect of Moira betraying the Knight cabal is the same - Ceridwel the immortal went Greek Mythos on your ass.

There are some other factors here, as there always is with certain cabals. Withdrawing money from the cabal bank is basically taking it away from the other players. It can potentially be viewed as abuse of the system (the likely justification for taking it OOC, which I would agree with tentatively). It did make Ceridwel feel like he had to step in and that a line was crossed. I agree with him on that point. I disagree that it should escalate to a threat of not letting the player back into the Knight cabal, but honestly player background is checked often enough and you're high-profile enough that you probably wouldn't get into Knights on the fast track if you rolled a new character today to do it with anyway. I also did not see any of the in-game interaction that led to the current shitstorm whatsoever, which could further legitimize the steps taken.

I see where you're coming from with this one. I really do. I did see your note and I was watching your interactions with Kigran. I decided not to take an active hand in the conversion because it was a little off. Kigran was still going through the induction process (he was an Underling at the time, the lowest rank) and it was simply inappropriate for me to get involved with it when I'd just appointed new cabal members to higher positions. From my perspective, the Legion member attempting to influence you matters more to me than you do.

I also don't want to make alignment shifts a routine thing. It shouldn't be something people try to do on every character. Knights should be upstanding and righteous, not evil motherfuckers waiting to happen.

Gaelyn wasn't converted to the Legion because of evil feelings or because he wanted to betray. He was converted because of the exact qualities that made him a good Knight - his love for his sister and his absolute devotion to her made him vulnerable to a promise of giving his sister eternal life. That isn't something Gaelyn or Vella or me or Mkatos was shooting for from the beginning, it's something that developed organically over the course of months of roleplay. It's not something any of us would be able to do because we [b:15a79aa94e]planned[/b:15a79aa94e] it. It just happened, and that's why it was so good.

This attempt didn't fail because you were inadequate in any way. It simply couldn't have succeeded from the outset.

It's unfortunate that I can't actually say these things to you until after you delete because, if I did step OOC and say them, it would ruin the chances of something happening organically. This is the same reason people who send notes asking for other RP rewards tend to not get a response.

I'm sorry it didn't work out, but everything with this character went exactly the way it had to go.

                                            Hi Moira,
Didn't get to see too much from you, but I was curious to see how your story was going to play out. I'm disappointed that you didn't try to play up the story that was written by Kirgan's deletion: The knight who was lured by power, then has to handle her fate alone, bereft from the support of her seducer. I can understand why that's not an appealing character to play, however, since it's a very 'thinky' subtle type of roleplay that some players just don't enjoy.
