Title: the Unholy Knight
Gender: Male
Level: 50
Class: jotun dark-knight

Background history:

Description:

A looming, massive visage of a giant-like man stands here. Standing a shade under nine feet tall, his tremendous bulk is enhanced by his battle-hardened muscles that threaten to tear through his armor, which is nearly concealed by a large tattered cloak from the hide of a tundra yeti. His boulder-like head is topped with ash-colored hair, that has been braided into a number of long, thick braids, and tied off with cords of frayed rope. His chiseled jawline sports a matching rough beard, also braided and tied. His pale blue skin is tightly stretched over his powerful, thickly corded body, and is scarred in several places with the remnants of jagged, battle wounds. A broad, menacing grin expose yellowed and blackened teeth, and allows a fetid, rotten breath to escape into the air.

Sorry, after a year of break, I can't even start to begin competing with nerds who grind this game 24/7. It is honestly not even fun, I'd have to invest countless of hours into the game again to actually be able to PK.

Because there's no newbies/intermediate players left, anyone who is still playing knows whole map blindfolded so it's pretty retarded to compete even if you outsmart them they just run faster, lel.

Booooring, I rather go pwn some nubs in CS than grind this crap tbh. Bye!

I mean just take a look at Nadrin, I think he has not even stopped for a month in past...umm...5 years? How do you compete with such tryhards, I forget hallf the pre-spam dirs while I take a break, kinda impossible :P

by outgearing and dunking him, the same as everybody else. Personally I would probably befriend him and oneround him when he least expects it.

You also need to know when to pick your fights. Its just knowing when to dive in, when to skirmish, and when to run. Also, while it takes time, its worth putting in the practice early instead of ramming through levels.

I used to be quite good in actual fights and outplaying shit, but I just CANT fucking run fast enough when people have mappers and countless hours of grind invested into it.

It kinda becomes way too boring to chase rabbits.

just use automap what is the problem

the people dunking you are using brief mode with everything turned off they definitely don't have mappers and if they did they wouldn't make any difference

And the main reason is that I can already see myself tuning on AR in order to wreck these people who used to be punching bags (nadrin, beia etc) and show whos the boss, but that would ruin my rl....AGAIN.

I feel if I dont quit now I will be stuck in here and it kind of beats the whole purpose of having a 6 month vacation and travelling the world if all you do is play fucking AR in a hotel room, i mean come on :P

                  Answer 1: trap people.
Answer 2: trick people into thinking they're winning, then dunk them
Answer 3: roll a Justice and cheese people with ensnare

                  That's how I get pks.

I played 4 chars in last 6 days I got back. Total of 90 hours I think.

Now you know why I want to quit this before it's too late...

under burz game used to be brain over brawn. there was a time you could beat someone that has spent 4 months logging out on cabal invasions and collecting the best gear from apprehensions with just decent gear and skill. nyc is from an era where cheese won the day, and we are obviously going back in that direction faster than you can say combat modules. he's pretty much stated it openly. brain over brawn seems to be fading out for now. whenever a dk/bers can win a fight in 4 rounds with chain bash/bodyslam you can't blame it on mappers.

still your death/loot had nothing to do with anything but your lack of prep. you got caught with your pants down. then you invaded justice with inned and when he left your ass high and dry inside you got pwnt pummeled. what does this have to do with mappers? Those are your only two deaths after all as far as I can tell.

Cursiq, you've fault memory if you think that it is worse now then it used to be.

And no, a fully decked good pker from back in the day was not so easily killed by someone in moderate gear. We used have something called an 'hgod' or 'uhgod' that is how people lost their badass gear.

How could you even say that? I mean, it's a ridiculous and baseless assertion. Chaining bodyslams or bashes from a fire giant was ABSOLUTELY part of the game back then, way the hell more so then now.

Why do you think nycticora controls game direction. There is an issue system that in some circumstances is clearly manipulating lower levelled and less strongly minded immortals. The players have never had so much decision making power as they do now. The thing I can say for nycticora at this point is he will sometimes say that something a player brought it up is NOT an issue. I remain (as always) the driver of this train

And Dav I know you're the boss I don't really know how much control he has. He's a high level imm, he does some programming maybe? A lot of his pov has been implemented it seems. Same way I think once Olyn hit a certain point, a lot of his pov has been implemented in the game as well. I thought for sure I've even heard you lamenting over the days of cheesy chain bashes, but I could be wrong. anyway i think chain lagging is good

It takes a while to be fully in - tune with a class. Not just a week or two. Sloe down the ranking process.. train, learn the ins and outs.. kill everybody.

Are you going to point out what I said that didn't mesh with what you were claiming? I really don't mind being wrong, but what you said is what I read and refuted. Your claims place the blame on the game for your inability to kill someone in good equipment.

Train someone for a while at 30 or 40, make a few friends knock someone off and take all their equipment. Watch how easy it is for you to keep your equipment after that.

As far as PKing vets, you have to find a very niche strategy, like hoarding AC(*points to Kato*), or using the benefits of rend life(You know who you are you devil, you.), or dirt kick(*cough* Xenyar *cough*)

but when it comes to Pip, you're fucked.

I think it's easier to do it the way Ozaru and Mikoos are doing it now personally. Make a bunch of characters, delete the first time you die in a shitty way, then roll a new one immediately. You can practice 90% of what you need to learn to be a killer or to survive around killers in the low levels, so you can just compete with the other guys doing the same thing at levels 20, 30, 40 and the equipment and skill floors will both be lower. The more people that do this, the more effective it will be. You already know that some of our players are doing it right now so it's the best time to get in on that.

People shame low-level PK in logs and forums because they want to shame the weak-minded into leaving their characters alone. Same thing with shaming quit-outs, cabal sitting, and praying to imms to get Justices slain. Just start treating the metagame as part of the game and you'll have a lot more fun.

Discussions about the balance policy decisions of past immortals should be a new thread in the Battlefield. If you start a new thread there I'll respond but it's off-topic for the graveyard.

But sometimes a newbie comes out of left field with a great observation. The important thing is not to be close-minded. I am always willing to entertain an idea, however dumb it is and whoever gave it. Sometimes stupid ideas lead to great ideas, which is cool. It is also short-sighted to not think about your playerbase when deciding a change. I think past implementors were guilty of trying to just please themselves, which worked until the playerbase changed and they were no longer pleasing anyone except themselves, and I think that is what you are trying to say your concern is, but that's not the case here anymore.

Giant berserkers just can dual wield and rage and probably win most fights with great equipment. I mean hell I had a mino zerker with crap eq and won most fights with just rage.

Necros uvet is writing the book, get tired inkeeper giant thief guardian and load up on hp and you should win.

The rest of us have to use "brains" to win against their brawn. But especially against zerkers it its pretty off putting to see star damage every freaking round. I deleted Jinpa because of how lopsided the battles were against Voglin, personally I didn't see much skill not that he has it or not, didn't really need it with his gear. In my head I thinking should I use a staff that does magic damage, what if I get my hit roll above 40 in leopard style, what eq changes will I have to go through, I will have to run a lot more, get better at healing hope not to fail acupuncture.

While Voglin only has to hit rage and body slam. Of course he spent time getting that gear, but me personally I didn't want to invest the time to see if I could beat someone and then find out I can't because even with a staff and even with 40 hit roll, I am pretty sure he will still roll out star damage per round and that is just disappointing.

From there even if I figure him out, I have necro's illusionists paladins to worry about lol. I guess that is what makes the game unique, but it takes a toll on you when you have to work harder than the other guy to win. For some people they thrive under that, others just don't want to bother and you can see who is in which category by their delete posts.

But this is more for science, after I find out I would let him go back to the graveyard. I think thats what a lot of people who complain about the game are missing is that they see someone do well and they don't see anything stellar from how they are and just chalk it up to game imbalance.

After 100 ranger keepers I think you've gotten too used to brawny characters yourself. Monks will always be disadvantaged against giants anyway -- not every matchup is created equal, and that's by design

If Lorne isn't lying he said he's lagging and he couldn't keep the pressure on to prevent shomei from healing. The other part of that fight Lorne was defensive using a spear which is a weapon monks know how to use and on top of that shomei uses sanctuary. If anyone things tenacity is the same thing as sanc you are sadly mistaken I am not going to get into whether that should be changed because warlords get forms so it make sense to have warlords take a little more damage since they can do more with cabal powers which for monks I don't know how that applies since I didn't persevere.

To be honest I think Lorne beat himself, had he used an axe and a spear and just raged, this fight would have been over a lot sooner. Is there a balance issue here, I don't know. WHat I do know fighting a zerker with winter gear is pretty damn hard to bring down as a monk. Other classes have things that they can do to even the fight, but a monk is like a healer that lags himself without half the protective abilities and less damage to boot.
