One More Time
Rodakkis mother died in childbirth, and his father, well his father served a dark, malevolent being. The result of this was an absolute punishing abuse that lasted until the end of his formative years. Rodakki, because of it, became a bitter, deceitful young man that took great pleasure in torturing and maiming small animals. Whats worse is that he became skilled in his craft and eventually worked his way up to larger animals and even people, wherever he and his father traveled. The dark god that his father served eventually took an interest in the young man and convinced him to kill his father in his sleep. The moment Rodakki slid his dagger across his fathers throat and ended his life, something became attached to him and completed the transformation. The urge to maim and destroy filled his very being and consumed his soul. One more time, he could hear being whispered in the back of his thoughts, a constant buzz in his head. One more time. One... More... Time

Description:

Simply monstrous. This colossal creature seems to be carved out of a shimmering, glacial iceberg. Jagged plates jut out beyond his broad, powerful shoulders and down the center of his back along the spinal column. Blackened, lifeless orbs penetrate through the chilling aura that surrounds him while simultaneously darkening the surrounding area with an eerie, baleful glow. Shadowy plates cling to his vigorous frame, releasing void-like tendrils that violently whip back and forth across his armor. The malodorous stench of sulfur or perhaps brimstone trails in his wake.

Hope you didn’t delete because of that last one. DK’s are kinda gimped against non good targets and you really only lost the last one due to bad timing. Hope you have more fun with the next one.

I like the idea of DKs, but I can't really get behind the skillset they have. This was a long time coming.

Good job. Made a DK legion look like it could actually work.

Thanks, but the vuln is what made me decide I didn't want to play this character anymore. I think I liked the idea of playing a DK more than the experience.
I thought it was going to be a similar experience to Trovo, but I was way wrong.

      Interesting statement.

Obviously there is no way to make light of the jotun pierce vuln (it is a serious vuln) but I am curious what you think were the defining differences between the experience you had with Trovo and with this character.

There are the obvious survivability issues, IE sanc, cure serious etc.

You have to be more aggressive with the DK than I expected. Also, I never really liked using compulsion because it didn't last long and the only way to train it is to have people around to sic shit on, so you can't train it without a) a volunteer or b) actual pk situations that could backfire heavily.
In addition to the compulsion, the cd on it I thought was way too long.

I had zero use for abyssal bulwark.

I'm sure I was just playing the character in a sub-optimal way because I didn't get too much experimenting in. I may make another DK in the near future, probably not Jotun though. Maybe a Drow or Human. Anything but Jotun.

Hmm ok I'll retool shields again.. sounds like a little buffing is appropriate on the heels of the armor class of equipment being fixed up.

Removing armor class when bulwark is active was a tough change...and bringing back cure light, that made abyssal bulwark way less purposeful. One thing that does remain useful is the 100 bulwark points you can fill up when logging on or before going into battle. So there's at least something of value there.
    6. The last time I played a DK there was no bulwark. This time there is a bulwark with no AC and it’s a great bonus. Also, avian is great.

I was thinking we could look into shields having their own AC (level-based, not so much gear-based, although psi enhanced gear like black sun medallion adding a buff might be cool) then making some of the big nuke skills hit shields+"real" hp at the same time dealing the same damage to both pools, but with the AC of both combined. I think that could be really helpful vs big nukes like backstab and sidestep and plays into the theme fully. That also addresses my long-held concern with DK's getting picked off by some braindead guy who just runs in and overheads your drow knowing you'd be using auspice of ilythir. The player fighting the DK would have to wise up- wait for the shield to shatter from regular melee and stick with vanilla dirt kicks if they want that to hurry up. Also this is ten-fold easier to balance since we know what we are looking for and can just buff/nerf the base shield AC until we see the behavior we wanted, and I wont have to spend 9 hours going through eq if it becomes out of hand from power creep.

To add an example to what I wrote,
Joe the caveman ninja sidesteps you for what would be an obliterate, but this is an "also shields" skill. So you add your shields AC to the pierce AC you have, for pretty significantly reduced damage. Your raw hp and your shield take whatever that reduced damage is, rather than split the damage, which means shield also double dips on the AC. We can also make sure the shield isnt affected by vuln bonus.
