A Journey Begins
Moren was born in a rather uneventrul setting. His father a roving Knight, his mother a noble of Valour. Unfortunatly for Moren, his father was gone on some crusade when he was born, and his mother died in childbirth. His father a respectable man, had made arrangements, for his birth at the monastary, and he was taken care of. He was 10 when he met his father for the first time, having spent his whole life in the monastary. The Pious knight was grief stricken to learn that while he was off crusading, Moren's mother had died. The only shining light remaining was that he had a son. He was allowed to spend two years with his father who rested in the Monastary before he was called away again once more to war. This time his father did not come back, a messenger returning to let Moren know how his father had died. The seed though, had been planted. He had been training for years now, and he would join the Order. He would do his father proud. It was his 16th year before he set out from the Monastary to begin his training abroad. His story had begun.

  1. This is kind of a rage delete, and kind of not. It just hasn't been there for me. I keep playing Knights over and over again, and That just isn't as much fun as it was. Balan was awesome, I should not of made another knight so soon after him. My tattoo selection sucked so there was that too... Monks have the chance to be invincible in open spaces, but in confines they can get fucked pretty fast.

First of all - zerkers in closed spaces? Brrrr. Scary shit.

Most importantly - sad to see this guy go. I know what it feels like to lose interest, so hopefully you find something cool to move on to. Good luck brosuf.

Yeah you definitely got fucked on that tattoo selection. I honestly don't think monks should ever go offensive empowerment with the one exception being in group warfare where they are not the primary target.

YES! FINALLY! I have the cold hard proof I need that abduct is not just a cheese, and in fact game-breaking problem.

-> It forces player to only one tactic (i.e. whatever their ideal skill to use in this single situation)
-> It often amounts to scissor CRUSH rock (e.g. healer gets fucked over by berserker instead of out lasting)
-> It is so powerful that there only two kinds of people - those that have abduct, and those that lose to it
-> it causes rage delete / rage quits

The same said of ensnare and imprison.

This power is going to mutate very soon

Good job, Nadrin. You really took one for the team with that one.

Did you see the Log? Abduct has its own issues as it is, The berserker lost more than half hp, the monk should have won that fight but Nadrin was being a noob and forgot sanc at the end.

As for Moren, he was awesome in so many aspects. Very devoted to the Knights and mastering his skills. Sad to see him go and I hope you find the joy we all seek on another guy.

              1. I went back and looked at my own log, it ended before the purple did lol

The short duration of abduct means you should totally be able to live through it if you're near full health. The classic healer tactic of flee heal has always served to sustain healers through an abduct.

And the penalty for abducting a non-contract is certainly severe enough.

As counter-examples to abduct pwnge: I killed a fully geared monk as a naked monk after getting abducted.

I killed a fire giant zerker as a shaman after being abducted.

                  The sword goes both ways.

Also, clearly abduct was not the main factor in this delete. Nadrin is a solid pk'er who seems to have struggled with the class. I would wager the frustration with getting the hang of monk would have been a bigger factor in the delete.

                      Abduct/Imprison are a problem?

Imprison is limited to Valour and if you aren't pretty close to health, it blasts you AND they don't get imprisoned.

Abduct simply levels the playing field can be used anywhere, unless they aren't contracted in which case you get a giant boot up the ass before being tossed in.

Having had more then one Knight (cough) I can tell you that imprison isn't as big a bad ass end game as people think. Can't speak too much to abduct, but I do know I've never been killed by a Legionaire by abduct. Always made it out.

Also, are you saying Davo, that this isn't supposed to benefit the person doing the imprison/abducting? Because I kinda thought that was the point. If not, why even have the skills to begin with?
                        [reply to Faelon]
                      1. For sure. I meant it when I said I did not like monk. I may play another but it won't be a lighty. Next time I will know what tattoos I want too. I just did not enjoy being a lighty and being stuck with request choices being further limited by light armor types. Monks are buff for sure, but not my cup of tea right now.

As valox, the toughest ones to abduct and kill were healers. Yeah I got a couple kills that way... but 90% of the time the healer would just spam cure critical or flee/heal. That was before the dirt kick going the protective shield change though. So that's a pretty big factor.

No its not the abduct, what the abduct does is fine. Having a skill to whisk people away from their groupmates is pretty much exactly what the Legion cabal needs. The problem lies with the confinement that also occurs with the abduct.

Also not sure whether that cough was aimed for me, but I have had multiple knights, and I've also had multiple squires that weren't Knights, really decent characters that tried to join Knights and failed to get in because there was a much more competitive playing field for that.

This was one of my knights, on this guy my roleplaying kinda sucked

These skills were all intended to "balance out" ensnare, which I can see now is just too broke. Reasons already stated.
