Seems me buffer ain't that long.....swear this sort o' thing ain't really happened afore... had a few good skrimishes with Alkas an' some shite thief. Landed a couple o' hits on Nyth...then she all went ter shite.. Lost all o' me red dragon. Good fer meself it's easy ter get back. Bwahahahaha!

  1. Yeah I fought them both for awhile before this. And by fight I mostly mean run away and try to get them to chase. Invoker and berserker duo is some crazy nuke potential!

    This was literally the first skirmish that Solmundi joined in, and then Trovo happens to log in right in the middle of it all. Pretty bad timing for ol' Hirendan.

      2. Oh I see he's rank 10 on rankings. I wasn't trying to burn. Hah. I generally thought he was just new not knowing exactly what to do. From this log and the other logs I've seen he wasn't doing much damage, but maybe that's just me not knowing what is going on.
      3. I'm trying to figure out how to actually hurt a jotun for one. They don't seem weak to anything at this point but requires testing. Additionally, I feel like peeps just be rocking 100+ aff saves so its just skirmish and run until I can actually get some damage through properly with out dying in the process.

      7. Yeah Trovo I agree, I was thinking metal shards was pierce but it doesn't seem to be or your are just negating that much damage through sanc, protection, AC, and saves. Arcane resistance I am pretty sure covers hellstream but there isn't a damage type chart or info on those that I am aware of so I don't actually know, but so far I have tried every damage dealing spell and haven't been successful.
      8. Might I suggest not focusing on spell damage. Rather, try the approach of hit/dam coupled with barrier/mana shield. I'm not certain how well that would work out, but if none of your spells seem to be effective, you do have the option to use weapons and protective spells. Being a Drow, you have high int so your mana could translate to an effective barrier against your physical vuln. I don't know what else to offer in terms of advice being that I never played a high level -or low level for that matter- invoker.
      9. Here are my thoughts on the hit/dam model:

        A: I have 600 hp or so with no health gear, that translates to roughly 4-5 rounds against your/other paladins damage output.
        B: Every character I have fought has easily been prepared for switching between physical/magical weapons as needed, since you can't switch mana shield/barrier that quickly it can't be used as a primary defense.
        C: If Invokers are focusing on weapon damage and virtually ignoring spell damage, there is a flaw in their design
      10. So if I may throw in a two-cents, and it seems like you've come to the same conclusion here, but it seems like you've just found yourself a hard counter. You're an evil invoker going up against a Jotun Paladin. I think your best bet has been exactly what you've been doing: team up with people who stand a better chance at putting the paladin on his heels. Eventually, you'll find yourself on the favorable end of the 3v2. Otherwise, steer clear of him and don't let his buddies grapple you to pin you down.
      11. I think lionSpyre is right. Some match ups are just hard. And honestly jotun paladin is pretty brutal. I don't know a lot about paladin from having played them, but I've fought a lot of them and they have tons of health, and heals and they do a shitload of damage. That's not really a easy pickings type of set up for a drow invoker.

      13. Here's my two cents. Paladins with sanc and protection. Nasty. In general, evil mages are difficult to beat paladins without hitting dispel. Even in team fights, you should be spamming that dispel with a 15 break and if it succeeds to dispel both sanc and protection, hirendan can go nuts on him. This is also the reason whu personally, i like lightning mages because they have both an afflictive and mental dispel. Otherwise it's just hard.
      14. Leaning on dispel is also why hit/dam is clutch on invokers
      15. I dont favor hit/dam invokers. Without enhanced damage, your damage will not be significant. On top of that an invoker's base health is approx 600+. If trovo gets a few lucky murders you're done.

        Your best bet is to time your dispel and hit a hellstream the moment dispel hits. Take the 2 round lag for a high burst nuke when sanc and protection drop. Then keep on him and stop him from healing with 1 round lag spells. That will be my strat. It'll still be difficult to win alone, but i think that's your best chance.
      16. Both are probably viable. It depends on your playstyle maybe? I had two #1 invokers before, both full hit/damn. It worked because if you get high enough enhanced is trumped by additional spell damage. You can get a 7/7 badass weapon, and do mutilates through sanc if you put in the effort. One or two lucky dispels with two attacks each and 2 dispelled hellstreams? They are probably running now. If they stack saves even better, imo, because now they're doing no damage against your onslaught of physical damage and reduced spell damage.

        HP invoker to me hypothetically speaking is an easy counter. Stack up saves, and just flee/murder and eat through their hp. Invokers have changed a bunch since I played them competitively though, and losing medic/restorer (I assume they're gone) seems to be a huge gimp to caster legions.
      17. I really think at the very least restorer wands should be returned!
      18. Have you tried the shield spell? Figured you would be on mana shield because of heavenly wraths
      19. I'd even experiment with daggers or maybe the rapier from redhorne if you can. I think energy scrolls are not that great now either, because they seem to fade super quick. But, a few of those too, could really make a difference along with as dav said those shields. i used to be in the habit of cancelling and rotating my shields to keep my opponent off-balance or fit the situation.

    2. This is just a terrible match up for Fygh. Sanc/protection for damage mitigation. Resistant to cold(Ice your specialization?) and arcane(your go-to nuke spell). Then there is an average 31 polearm made of silver that he is wielding to terrorize your vuln. Yep, just about everything stacks against you.
      Even stacking hit/dam and hoping for a dispel is just not going to be enough to even the odds in this match.
      A lot of talk on the forums about paladin as a weak class and need some help... But this is a case where a jotun paladin has it's very nice perks and can really shine, at your misfortune.
      Trovo should be quite content to see his strengths come in to play here.. because I assure you, he has seen his weakness, the pierce vuln, eat him alive.
